Yvonne’s head snapped to the side from the blow, a red handprint blooming across her pale cheek.

She stared at her mother, disbelief flickering in her eyes before anger took its place—then finally, a crushing wave of disappointment settled in.

Without a second thought, Yvonne raised her hand and slapped Tracy hard across the face. “Don’t expect a single cent from me ever again. And if you push me, I’ll make sure everyone knows about your dirty secrets.”

Tracy was caught completely off guard. It took her a second to recover before she shrieked, “How dare you hit me!” Her face twisted in rage as she tried to strike back.

Yvonne seized her wrist and flung it away with force.

“Yvonne, are you trying to give me a heart attack?” Gina had never seen her daughter so fierce. Now she held Tracy protectively, her usually gentle eyes sharp and accusing, as if Yvonne were some ungrateful traitor.

By now, a crowd had gathered, several people holding up their phones to record the scene.
