“Nothing.” Yvonne shook her head, quickly wiping the smile off her face. She pretended to study the new furniture in the living room, her expression calm and composed.

Aside from the paintings on the walls, it looked like everything had been replaced—inside and out.

A strange awkwardness hung in the air.

Yvonne glanced at the man standing by the kitchen counter, sipping water. After hesitating for a moment, she spoke up, “Um, it’s getting late. Why don’t we just grab breakfast at the office?”

“Alright.” Marico finished his water, his reply low and even.

Yvonne felt a wave of anxiety and didn’t dare say much more.

They walked in silence toward the elevator, heading to the garage to get the car.

Marico led the way, while Yvonne trailed behind like a dutiful assistant, her gaze fixed on his dress pants and polished shoes.

When the elevator arrived, she watched him step inside before following close behind.

Marico’s tall, well-built figure stood by the control panel as he pressed the button for their floor.

Just as the doors slid shut, he reached over with his elegant, slender hand—offering her a… ring?

“Huh?” Yvonne blinked in surprise, her dark eyes wide. She had to make sure she wasn’t seeing things—yes, it really was a ring. She looked up at him, startled.

“Put it on. That way no one at work tries to set you up,” Marico said flatly, his face unreadable.

“Uh?” Yvonne floundered for a second, raising her hand but not taking the ring. “It’s a ring. If I wear it, won’t people start gossiping?”

Everyone at the office knew she was single. If she suddenly showed up wearing a wedding band…
