Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 8

Yvonne glanced at her mother, whose eyes were swollen and red from crying—clearly, she’d been at it for a long time.

Even now, with everything falling apart, her mother still tried to play the peacemaker. Yvonne felt utterly exhausted.

She closed her eyes, took a deep, steadying breath. “You want a dowry of twenty-eight thousand dollars? Why don’t you marry your own daughter off, then?”

“Dad, there’s no way I’m marrying that blockhead. You, the precious princess, should go and win him back yourself. With your track record, landing someone with those credentials is the best you’ll ever get.”

Tracy lounged on the couch, all too happy to stir the pot, a smug grin on her face that made Yvonne’s blood boil.

It was obvious—they all knew the truth.

A chill settled deeper into Yvonne’s heart. She shot her mother a look. “Mom, is that what you think too?”

Her mother couldn’t meet her eyes, and in that moment, Yvonne finally understood—she was nothing but an outsider in this family.

“Tracy,” Gina murmured, glancing over her shoulder, signaling her to shut up.

Tracy just rolled her eyes, radiating contempt.

“Either you pick up the phone and beg him to come back and marry you soon, or you get out of my house!” Robin barked.

Yvonne looked at her mother, her voice tight with disappointment. “What have you been holding onto all these years, Mom?”

Gina, ever the pushover, tried to defend herself, but Robin cut her off sharply. “I’m your man now. I’m the one you’ll spend the rest of your life with. Once a girl is married off, she’s no longer our concern. Stop relying on her.”

Silenced, Gina could only mumble, “Yvonne, just listen to your father.”

“My father’s dead.” Yvonne shot a glare at Robin.

“Then get out! Get out of my house, ungrateful brat. Out! Out! Out!”

Yvonne’s heart turned to stone. She stuffed her clothes into a suitcase, yanked up the handle, and stormed out the door.
