However, even though she knew stomach discomfort was causing her illness, the bouts of uncontrollable vomiting were just too unbearable!
Lambert remembered the morning's breakfast and promptly reached out to grasp her hand, "Let's go."
She was taken aback and glanced around subconsciously to check if anyone was watching them. This was their company after all. Even if they were a couple, they didn't want to be caught behaving like this.
"Where to?"
Lambert told her, "To the hospital."
A glum expression took over Ariana's face as she said, "No need, there's still a lot of work to do. Besides, I've already thrown up."
Lambert hesitated momentarily then asked, "Why did you have to eat everything? Could it be that you..."
A disgruntled Ariana responded, "I just didn't want to upset your parents. It's a good thing I ate it. If they had, more people would have gotten ill, wouldn't they?"
Lambert felt his heart throb amidst the temporary silence. He had done all this for her without anticipating such an unexpected outcome, "I'm sorry."
She clutched her stomach, waving her hand dismissively, "Just forget it."
There was a meeting to attend later. She had just returned from the bathroom, and Lambert had followed her. The conference room must've been in chaos by now.
Tightly holding her hand, Lambert said, "Let's go to the hospital first."
"What's the point of going to the hospital?" Ariana retorted. "Going there won't make me feel better immediately. Besides, they'll likely stick me with a needle!"
Resigned, Lambert said, "The vomiting was likely caused by undigested food damaging your stomach. If you don't see a doctor, you could feel miserable for the next few days."
"I..."
She had a look of rejection on her face, yet she couldn't argue against it.
Moreover, if she continued to refuse, Lambert might take her to the hospital in a more eye-catching way.
Finally, Ariana was forced to go to the hospital for a good check-up.
This hospital belonged to the Stone family. When they found out Lambert had arrived, the higher-ups of the whole hospital were on tenterhooks.
The old doctor took her pulse tremblingly, "What did you eat this morning?"
"Uh..." Ariana paused and subconsciously looked at the man next to her.
With an embarrassed expression, Lambert spoke, "I made her breakfast, and she just vomited badly. Would it be better to give her a thorough check?"
Hearing this, the doctor paused. He originally thought that a pill would do fine, but seeing Lambert's concern, he coughed dryly and said, "Let's go for a blood test.”
Hearing that she needed a blood draw, Ariana immediately turned bitter, but she cooperated anyway.
However, when Lambert received the laboratory report, his expression suddenly froze.
Gastric perforation?
Ariana saw the unusual look on Lambert's face when he looked at the lab report, and she was a bit aggravated, "What are the results?"
He briefly regained his senses and quickly hid the lab report behind him, "It's nothing..."
She replied angrily: "Vice President Stone, that's my lab report. I am the patient, I have the right to know what's going on!"
Lambert remained silent, Ariana reached over and grabbed the report.
Upon seeing 'gastric perforation' written on the report, she was also frightened.
Lambert saw her scared expression and reached out to hold her in his arms, "I'm sorry."
If it weren't for him, Ariana wouldn't have ended up this way.
Ariana, who was suddenly pulled into an embrace, when heard Lambert's worried voice, inexplicably missed a heartbeat.
However, seeing the name on the report, she couldn't help but laugh and patted the forearm that Lambert wrapped around her: "Wait... this report isn't mine!"
Upon hearing her words, Lambert paused. She handed the test sheet to Lambert: "It seems we might've grabbed the wrong note."
