Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 153

"I'm sorry, I was too busy and forgot!"

Old Mrs. Stone, with a smile on her face, said, "It's okay, we understand that the company has been busy lately. We just went out today and it's just dinner time. Feel free to sit down."

Subconsciously, Ariana glances at the placid Lambert next to her. With a slight discomfort, she acknowledges, "Okay."

She just sat down and noticed that the table didn't have the usual nutrient-rich soup served these days, which was unexpected.

Lambert, on the side, continues to eat gracefully, seemingly unbothered by any of it.

Seeing the look of fatigue on Ariana's face, Hugh remarks, "You've been having the nourishing soup steadily these days but still, you seem to have lost a lot of weight. If work is too hectic, you should delegate some tasks to subordinates. Don't do everything personally."

"I know, Dad," replied Ariana.

"Brother-in-law, you should talk to her," Aster admonished with a fault-finding tone. "You know the Mom wants to hold her great-grandson, and yet she let herself get this exhausted. She truly doesn't know how to take care of herself."

Khloe lightly laughed and commented, "I get a sense that the young couple may have argued again. Look at them; there is hardly any interaction between them."

Hugh furrowed his brow at him, "Really? Lambert?"

After all, these two just took a break and had a good time together, so their arguing on their return makes others wonder.

Lambert said nothing, Jolene then unhappily said, "Son, why don't you know how to be considerate? No wonder you came back alone today, without bringing Ari along."

Ariana saw all the barrage was pointed toward Lambert, and spoke somewhat helplessly, "It's not like that. I myself wanted to work overtime, but once I started, I forgot to inform the family."

Khloe was sipping red wine; upon hearing Ariana's remark, he facetiously said, "Really now? Maybe you already carry the tiny member of our Stone family in your womb and you're not even careful. Once pregnant, it isn't just about you anymore."

After he had finished, the whole table fell silent.

The uncle beside her felt his wife was talking too much, so he subtly kicked her under the table as a warning.

She was taken aback, and frowned at her husband, catching her breath, she muttered, "I haven't said anything wrong."

Indeed, Khloe hadn't spoken wrongly, but she had definitely stirred the pot.

The Stone family started assuming that Ariana didn't want children, hence she was deliberately always overworking, to avoid getting 'Fertility Tonics'.

And in Ariana's viewpoint, it was blatantly obvious the only thing the Stone family cared about was whether she could carry a child in her womb.

Coincidentally, the reason she argued with Lambert was because of contraceptive pills.

Ultimately, she just wasn't ready for children quite yet.

Ariana's expression darkened slightly, 'Killing two birds with one stone indeed,' she thought, 'even if others sensed something amiss, there's nothing they could argue about considering Auntie Khloe only spoke the truth.'

What irked her was whether Khloe said those words by coincidence or knew the reason behind her argument with Lambert.

Lost in her thoughts and not quite ready to respond, she heard her husband, Lambert's slightly teasing tone, "My wife and I have been married not so long ago. How can we have children so quickly? Aunt Khloe, you do have a funny bone."

Khloe's face froze for a moment, and she was at a loss for words for the time being.

Jolene smirked, her laughter easing the awkwardness, "Yes, furthermore, having children is all about the right timing. Ariana is young, and Lambert is strong and healthy. There's no need to rush. On the other hand, those older than Lambert should be more concerned."

Khloe and Aster felt like a knife had struck their hearts, their expressions turned a bit sullen.

Their sons, either on a business trip or at a branch office abroad, are all adults and can't be dictated.
