Arnold's father gazed at his astonished son, and continued to speak:
"Hence, you've been targeting the wrong person all these years. Lambert has always been a scapegoat, a pawn used by the old man to temper you and Finley. He, Lambert, will never pose any threat to you in this lifetime. His lineage has destined that no matter his achievements, they will never cause any fluctuation in the old man's attitude towards him."
Arnold seemed to understand, and he had digested it.
Slowly, he squinted his eyes, and a trace of cold mockery and disdain, interspersed with sudden enlightenment, emerged from the corners of his mouth. He sneered, "I really didn’t expect it. Could it be that Lambert is actually a bastard?"
Thinking of the apprehension and vigilance he had towards him over these years, he almost wanted to laugh at his past self.
Had he known earlier that Lambert was not even a legitimate heir of the Stone family, why would he need to waste so much energy? He was just a bastard, after all.
Seeing his son's mood gradually change, the eldest uncle breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "Hence, calm down for a while. If you dislike Beverly, then don’t go back. There are lots of women in the city; it's not like Beverly is the only one. Relax, even if the Lawrence family found out, they wouldn’t dare say anything."
Given the current situation, even if Arnold had an illegitimate child, Lawrence Corporation would not comment.
After all, they were at fault in the beginning.
The slowly calming Arnold also understood his father's meaning, he curled his lips and said, "Okay, I understand. I won't do anything about Beverly. Until Lawrence corporation is completely within my control, I will continue taking care of her. It's not like I lack the money anyway."
The eldest uncle looked at his son in satisfaction, "I'm relieved if you think like this."
Arnold laughed lightly, without saying anything else.
However, just when his mood was gradually improving and he was about to call some friends out for relaxation, something came to his mind, he said, "By the way, if I do something to Lambert, Grandfather won't say anything, right?"
His father’s eyes flashed a crafty smile: "He actually won’t. But you have to be sure that you can handle Lambert. Try to act after the old man or Thomas and Lawrence families have made their move. Otherwise, if you go ahead and get hit back by Lambert and the old man finds out, he will be extremely disappointed in your abilities."
Arnold's face darkened a few shades.
To be pointed out by his own father that he was inferior to Lambert, he was still somewhat embarrassed.
This awkward moment swiftly turned into a faint humiliation.
Suddenly, Arnold wanted to play around with Lambert even more. This way, he could prove to his father and grandfather that he wasn't inferior to that bastard, Lambert.
Thus, he nodded and said, "Okay, I understand."
He wasn't so foolish as to stick his neck out. However, he couldn't afford to lag too far behind because this time Lambert, the idiot, had managed to offend three corporations at once. Even with the support of the White family, he probably wouldn't be able to hold up for long. He needed to step up and deal a heavy blow before this opportunity slipped away.
At this thought, Arnold seemed to release a sigh of relief deep down, as if he had already foreseen Lambert's miserable ending.
He curled up the corner of his mouth and said to his father, "I'm heading out now, and will be back later."
His father knew what he was up to, so he didn't stop him. He only said, "Be more cautious and don't bring too much disgrace to the Lawrence family."
Arnold smirked in disdain, "I understand."
...
Meanwhile, at another place.
Lambert responded indifferently, “No.”
Stefan was about to blow his top, “Get out if you haven't thought of anything. Don't stand here and jeopardize the company! How do you get involved in such big trouble, out of nowhere? At least give me a heads-up so I can aid you somehow. We wouldn't be in this situation where you're being investigated, with the Thomas and Lawrence families ready to bite your head off. And you can’t even expect any help from your old man, after losing such face for the Stone family. It wouldn’t surprise me if he wants you dead.”
Although Lambert had been indifferent, this statement caused his gaze to sharpen, and he replied coldly: “Even if I were to do it all over again, I would still proceed the same way. Whoever dares to hurt me will have to pay the price.”
]Caught off guard, Stefan fell silent.
It was as if he felt that Lambert was beyond help, even though he could understand Lambert's feelings. If Allison were calculated against in such a way, he too would be furious.
But he won't act recklessly like Lambert does.
He schemes patiently, slowly setting traps for his opponents, like a hunter bringing down his prey one by one. Unlike Lambert, who is swift, accurate, and ruthless, leaving no room for others to escape or himself.
Lambert looked at his friend's expression, and after a few seconds, he said indifferently, "But indeed, I was immature in handling this matter."
Stefan raised an eyebrow. This guy can actually reflect upon himself! It's like the sun rising from the west!
Then, he heard what Lambert said next.
He said, "There won't be any more mistakes like this next time."
Stefan: "..." So there is going to be a next time?...
