After a long while, Ariana's emotions gradually calmed down.
During this period, Lambert told Ariana how he managed to get out, and why the plaintiff decided to withdraw the case.
Of course, he didn't mention other things.
For instance, this was actually a scheme he cooperated on with Ronaldo. He planned to keep that a secret between the two of them. The more people know, the more likely they will face danger in the future.
"He did not want Ariana to face any risk whatsoever.
So, these secrets remained as secrets.
After listening, Ariana stayed silent. After a while, she glanced slightly at Lambert and said, "So, you are indeed Grandfather's biological grandson?"
Lambert nodded: "You can say that."
Ariana twitched the corners of her mouth. She furrowed her eyebrows for quite some time. It was obvious that she was still blaming Old Mr. Stone. Even though she now knew that Lambert was his biological grandson, she still could not feel positive about him. Regardless of the past, this situation said it all. If Lambert wasn't his grandson, what would Old Mr. Stone do?
The answer was clear as day.
Thus, Old Mr. Stone was still a cold-blooded and selfish old man.
But since he was Lambert's biological grandfather, she didn't voice her opinions. She simply sat back on the bed, looked at Lambert, and said, "Have you thought about what to do next? Since Grandfather knows you are of the Stone family's lineage, he might ask you to return to the Stone household. Will... you go back?"
Rather than answering, Lambert asked Ariana, smiling sincerely, "Do you want me to go back?"
Ariana's face turned a shade of red. She glared fiercely at Lambert before saying coldly, "Whether or not you go back has nothing to do with me."
Lambert smirked, "How can it be unrelated? Who's your husband? Don't forget that we are lawfully wedded husband and wife."
Ariana tugged at her mouth in distaste, not bothering to mind him.
When Lambert saw this, his grin seemed to thicken even more. He slowly made his way to Ariana's side, but instead of sitting on the bed like her, his eyes unwavering, he stooped and grabbed her shoulder, then stared at Ariana intently, speaking word by word, "Ariana, I don't want to keep this from you. Here's what I've been thinking—I plan to return to the Stone family."
Lambert wanted to say more but eventually closed his mouth without uttering another word. The company wasn't the best place for conversations. Moreover, now wasn't the right time.
So, a slightly silent Lambert could only gaze at Ariana, observing her mood, and seemingly checking whether she would get angry.
He could consider some other plan if she didn't want him to return, even though returning to the Stone family was one of his quickest plans in his view.
He was different from those second-generation rich kids full of cheap pride. If a typical rich scion were in Lambert's situation, they would certainly refuse to return to the Stone family and resist to the end. But in all honesty, only childish people would do such a thing. In Lambert's view, the best way to take revenge is to take what the adversary craves.
Although Lambert barely came out victorious in this battle, he realized how difficult it was to start a business without a solid background.
Plus, with the thoughts of his two uncles and cousins, he thought if he kept being stubborn, it would satisfy them. Therefore, he planned to take this opportunity to go back. He was banking on his guess that his grandfather would ask him to return during his birthday. He planned to use this opportunity to return. Once he did, given time, the Stone Group would fall into his hands.
Ariana’s face…
Turned an even deeper shade of red instantly.
As for Lambert, his eyes narrowed slightly. He calmly stood up and glanced at Stefan with a slight lift of his eyebrow. Stefan directly said, "Not bad, brother. You even know to come back to the company when you return. Very good, excellent. It seems your time in detention has greatly enlightened you."
Lambert shot him a side glance and expressionlessly said, "I came to pick up Ari."
Stefan's grin instantly froze on his face. He stared at him in silence then said, "Don't fucking tell me, you've come not to reclaim your post, but rather to poach Ariana who's in the middle of sorting out documents!"
Lambert frowned, "Ariana is not an employee of the company. What’s wrong with me taking her away?"
Stefan howled, "Damn it! You are not taking care of the documents and won't even let Ariana take care of them?"
Lambert was still as unmoved as a rock. "Ari is not an employee you hired." He seemed to think of something, and raised his head to say to Stefan, "Oh, by the way, remember to pay Ari's salary into the card from now on."
Stefan exclaimed, "Get lost! She’s substituting for you! And if you want to pay her, pay her yourself. After all, the company is yours."
Lambert, still in a manner that could infuriate someone to death, replied, "No, I didn't hire Ari, she was hired while you were in position. So, you should pay." After speaking, it seemed like he thought Stefan would wriggle his way out, so he added, "Oh, shall I just deduct it directly from your year-end bonus?"
Stefan: "..."
