Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 374

Ariana remained silent, her gaze fixed on her phone for a long while before she finally decided to answer the call.

On the other end, Gilbert visibly relaxed as soon as the call connected. He spoke first, his tone cautious, "Ariana... you were not asleep, were you? I hope I'm not disturbing you." His careful words made Ariana think; perhaps her previous words had indeed struck a chord with him.

His attitude suggested that he was well aware of his own guilt.

Today, Ariana wasn't in the mood to delve into these matters. After hearing her father's words, she replied flatly, "No."

A faint smile appeared on Gilbert's face, thinking his daughter still had a soft heart. Without further hesitation, he got straight to the point, "Ariana, I called because I need to ask you something. Could you come back to the company? The White family business ultimately needs you to take over. You've already achieved so much there. Are you really going to just walk away from it all?"

Ariana was momentarily stunned, a sharp pain piercing her heart.

She fought back the tears welling up in her eyes, unsure whether to laugh or cry.

If she hadn't known that the White Group was currently in dire straits, she might have thought that her father regretted how he had neglected her in the past, that he had realized his favoritism had gone too far. In truth, if Gilbert had directly mentioned the company's troubles, Ariana, despite her heartache, could have accepted it.

But there was no hint of the company's struggles in his words.

It seemed as though he simply wanted her to return. This realization sent a chill through Ariana's heart, leaving her speechless with pain.

In truth, Gilbert wasn't feeling great either.

He had decided not to reveal the White Group's current state to Ariana just yet. He would tell her after she returned. Otherwise, she might think he was only asking her back because the company was in trouble, and that might make her even more reluctant to return. Despite the company's dire situation, he believed that with Ariana's capabilities, she could restore the White Group to its former glory.

Not to mention, there was also her husband, Lambert, to consider.

Now, the White Group was struggling with cash flow issues, and only Ariana could handle it. After all, she had the backing of the Stone family.

But the thought of manipulating his daughter in this way still filled him with guilt, making his tone sound unnatural.

Ariana listened quietly as he finished speaking, and after a long pause, she slowly said, "The White Corporation is in trouble."

Gilbert was taken aback.

Ariana continued, "I know something has happened to the White Corporation, so Dad, your main purpose for reaching out to me today isn’t just about that, is it? You want to discuss borrowing funds with Lambert, right?"

It had to be said; Ariana’s guess was spot on. Yes, that was exactly what Gilbert had in mind.

That night, after much deliberation, he still couldn’t bring himself to give up his position as chairman. While he could let Ariana take over, deep down, he wasn’t ready to let go. He also thought that stepping down wasn’t the only option. He could salvage the losses, and in doing so, he wouldn’t lose his position.

She had never intended to let Jane off the hook—the same Jane who had caused her so much suffering in her past life.

Lambert glanced at Ariana, who was sitting quietly by the car window, her mood visibly low. He couldn’t help but sigh and ask, “What’s bothering you?”

Ariana replied without turning her head, “You know exactly what’s bothering me…”

She felt he was feigning ignorance, so she gave him a look that clearly said she couldn’t be bothered to engage.

Lambert chuckled, then said, “I’ve just discovered how sharp my wife is. Your eloquence is truly impressive. If you were to enter politics, you’d make a brilliant diplomat.”

Ariana was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but laugh despite herself. She turned to face him directly and asked, “Are you mocking me or complimenting me?”

Lambert put on a wounded expression. “Of course, I’m complimenting you. Would I dare mock you? You’re overestimating my courage.”

This time, Ariana genuinely laughed. Seeing Lambert’s exaggerated look of helplessness, her eyes crinkled with amusement. “Well, you’d better behave then, or you’ll see just how sharp I can be.”

Lambert immediately raised his eyebrows and declared with mock solemnity, “Don’t worry, I’ll always listen to you. If my wife points east, I’ll never go west.”

Ariana wasn’t foolish. She knew Lambert was just trying to cheer her up. And it was precisely because of this that her heart felt a warm glow. She leaned over and planted a quick kiss on his cheek, then said with a smile, “That’s your reward.”
