Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 381

Even after being exposed, the elderly woman didn’t show much embarrassment. Instead, she continued to argue her point with unwavering determination. "But Lucian is exhausted from playing all day. Ariana, you’re still young, and this is your first time being a mother, so you don’t understand the consequences of a child not getting enough sleep."

Ariana: "..."

The old woman rambled on. "It will affect his future development, especially his brain development."

At this point, Ariana had completely given up on responding. The old woman’s excuses seemed to change every day, and now she had escalated it to brain development. Ariana couldn’t help but feel utterly defeated.

However, the thought of not having spent time with her son for several days tugged at her heartstrings. She pursed her lips and tried to negotiate. "Grandma, it’s been so long since I’ve seen Lucian, and I really miss him. Lambert does, too. How about I bring him over tomorrow? What do you think?"

Though reluctant, the old woman knew it wasn’t right to keep the child away from his parents for too long. She reluctantly agreed. "Fine, but make sure you bring Lucian back tomorrow."

Ariana chuckled softly. "Of course."

The others watched the interaction between Ariana and the old woman with a mix of envy and jealousy, though most of it was cold resentment. This was especially true for the eldest branch of the family.

Their smiles were practically frozen on their faces. Beverly sat there holding her child, but the old woman seemed to ignore her entirely. Her eyes were completely focused on her great-grandson. Wasn’t Arnold’s child also her great-grandson? The old woman’s favoritism was simply too much! She had always favored the third son when they were young, and after Lambert was born, she doted on him. Although there had been a period of estrangement due to the mystery surrounding his origins, now that his son was born, the old woman’s affection seemed even stronger than before.

How could anyone not feel jealous?

Yet, no one dared to speak up. After all, upsetting the old woman would only make things worse.

It was simply impossible for them to stand by and watch the third branch of the family bask in favor indefinitely...

At this thought, the eldest uncle and his wife exchanged a glance, their eyes flickering with a calculating and ruthless gleam.

...

Lambert also returned to the main house.

He knew Ariana had gone to pick up their son, so he thought it might be better to just head straight there himself and bring his wife and son home together.

With that in mind, he turned the steering wheel and drove towards the Stone family estate.

The butler was quite surprised to see Lambert. With a smile, he asked, "Sir Lambert, what brings you here as well?" It was unusual for Lambert to be present when Ariana came to pick up their son.

Lambert was quite amiable towards the butler. He chuckled lightly and said, "Well, I happened to be passing by."

The butler didn’t press further.

At this, the first branch of the family visibly brightened. Arnold's previously stern expression softened slightly. He subtly glanced at Lambert, his eyes coldly challenging, a look only he could see.

Lambert, however, was unfazed. With a mocking smile, he casually asked, "Grandma, where's the child?"

The old lady chuckled, "What's the rush? Someone's bringing him down." Just as she spoke, the butler carried Lucian downstairs. Ariana stepped forward to take her son, her eyes filled with maternal affection and joy. Lambert also approached, playfully teasing his still drowsy and bewildered son before saying, "We'll be off then."

The old lady waved her hand dismissively. "Go on, go on. Remember to bring the child over tomorrow."

Ariana nodded. "... Alright."

The others in the room were green with envy. The first branch, having just secured a favor, was in relatively good spirits. However, the second branch was far from pleased.

As Lambert and Ariana left with Lucian, Khloe quickly seized the opportunity to hand Alvin to the old lady, claiming it was to let the child bond with his great-grandmother. With Lucian gone, the old lady was somewhat bored, so she reluctantly held the child. After all, he was still her great-grandson.

But to the second branch, this scene was deeply oppressive.

The third branch had a child, and one that the old lady doted on, which was understandable.

The eldest branch's child wasn't as favored by the old lady, but she still held and played with him for a while. This only underscored the importance of having a child. Finley was visibly restless, his mood sinking to its lowest point. Gwen seemed to sense his foul mood and dared not speak, afraid of drawing his attention to herself.
