Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 485

After learning the full story, Lambert fell into complete silence.

Especially after hearing what Madelyn had said, his expression darkened even further.

But now wasn’t the time to confront Madelyn—what mattered was how to explain things to Ariana. He didn’t want such a trivial matter to create a rift between them.

Having made up his mind, Lambert headed upstairs.

At that moment, Ariana was sitting silently in the bedroom, staring out the window without a word. Even when she heard the bedroom door open, she didn’t so much as glance back.

Lambert walked over slowly.

Ariana remained motionless, her gaze fixed on the scenery outside.

When Lambert finally stopped beside her, he let out an almost imperceptible sigh. After a pause, he spoke softly, "I’ve already talked to Fanny. She told me what happened today."

Ariana’s eyelashes fluttered faintly, but she still refused to turn around.

Lambert couldn’t help but smile faintly.

It wasn’t often he saw Ariana like this, especially when she was jealous over him. He had to admit, it gave him a strange little thrill.

At that thought, he quickly cleared his throat, shaking off the notion. Instead, he turned her around firmly, placing his hands on her shoulders and making sure she looked at him before saying seriously, "I never mentioned this to you before, but it wasn’t because I was hiding anything. I’d genuinely forgotten about it. Ariana, I’ll admit, seeing you jealous for me makes me happy—but there’s also a part of me that isn’t."

Ariana’s cheeks flushed slightly at his earlier words.

But by the time he finished, her temper flared.

Her sharp glare seemed to say, 'You’re not happy? I’m the one who should be upset here!'

Lambert's lips curled into another faint smile. Then, he gently pressed a kiss to Ariana's forehead, his voice husky and tender as he murmured, "You should believe that no one could ever replace you in my heart."

Ariana's hand stilled for a moment.

After a pause, she turned her face away awkwardly and asked, "Then what’s this about a stand-in? That ex-girlfriend of yours—do I look like her?"

Lambert didn’t lie. He gave a slight nod. "Yes. When I first saw you, I was surprised because you did resemble her a little." Noticing how her expression darkened again at his words, he chuckled softly and continued, "But I didn’t work with you and later fall for you, just because of that resemblance. After all, plenty of women look like her. I’m not the kind of man to lose my head over a pretty face."

After a beat, he shrugged and added, "Of course, that was before I met you."

At that, Ariana’s face flushed completely red.

She knew Lambert had always been a charmer—though he’d never crossed certain lines, he had no shortage of smooth moves. Rationally, she told herself this was just his usual routine, that flirting was second nature to him. Yet every time, against her better judgment, she still fell for it.

Angelo had burst into laughter after hearing Lambert’s reasoning.

Lambert had ignored him at the time, thinking Angelo was just being his usual eccentric self. But now, he finally understood. If Ariana were to tell him today that she wanted to break up, his next move would probably be to eliminate the man she was cheating with—if there even was one. Divorce? Ha. Maybe in the next lifetime.

It was this realization that made Lambert grasp just how much Ariana meant to him.

Ariana listened quietly as Lambert spoke. When he finished, she blinked and asked, "That’s it?"

Lambert nodded. "That’s it."

Whether it was Lambert’s unusually agreeable attitude or her own inexplicably improved mood, Ariana didn’t press further. Instead, she said, "Alright, I believe you." She wasn’t stupid—she knew Lambert cared for her. But anyone would be upset after hearing the things Madelyn had said.

Ariana had been furious at the time.

To be precise, she had been jealous.

Deeply jealous.

Any woman would feel unsettled upon learning her husband had once shared a profound, unforgettable love with another woman. Ariana wasn’t some unshakable saint—it was perfectly normal for her to feel hurt and upset. Lambert understood this, and that understanding filled him with quiet satisfaction.

The corners of his lips curled upward, not at all like a man whose past had just been exposed—one who had nearly crashed and burned because of it.
