Allison's flight was scheduled to arrive at 9:30.
So Ariana went to the airport early.
She could have sent the chauffeur, but she wanted to see how Allison was doing these days—and, of course, to meet her adorable goddaughter in person.
Soon enough, the clock struck half past nine.
Ariana sat in the car, idly scrolling through her phone as she waited.
It wasn’t until Allison finally emerged from the arrivals gate that Ariana caught sight of her.
A warm smile curved Ariana’s lips as she stepped out of the car and walked toward her friend. Allison carried herself with a newfound maturity, a quiet strength that hadn’t been there before—proof that the ordeal with her daughter had tempered her spirit. She wore a beige trench coat, her softly curled hair cascading over her shoulders.
In her arms, she cradled a little girl.
Stefan walked beside her, flanked by two assistants and three bodyguards. The assistants wheeled two large suitcases behind them.
Ariana approached Allison.
The child—Beibei—peered up at her with wide, curious eyes. Ariana chuckled as she gently took the little girl into her arms, her voice soft. "So? Is Beibei doing better now?"
Allison’s face brightened at the sight of her old friend. She nodded. "The doctors said as long as she gets proper care, she’ll recover fully with time."
After all, a child couldn’t bounce back immediately after surgery.
Ariana gave a relieved nod. "That’s good to hear." As long as the little one was alright, nothing else mattered.
Stefan regarded Ariana with his usual composed demeanor. "Long time no see, Ariana," he said.
Ariana chuckled lightly, "Long time no see."
Stefan asked, "How's the company doing? Sorry for all the trouble lately." Lamari was jointly funded by Lambert and Stefan, making the Morris Family the second-largest shareholder after the Stone Family. Later, Ariana and Allison's company merged into Lamari as well, further increasing the couple's stake.
Logically, either Stefan or Allison should have stayed to manage the company. But due to their child's illness, neither had been able to focus on work. Despite this, Ariana still sent them their dividends—even more than originally agreed—which left them feeling slightly embarrassed.
Rolling her eyes, Ariana brushed it off. "Cut the formalities," she said, exasperated.
As if they'd ignore a sick child?
She sighed inwardly. Besides, they were way past such trivialities. Allison was her best friend—she wouldn’t hesitate to help, whether it was a small favor or a major crisis.
But the conversation reminded her of something else—the matter of Lexi that Allison had mentioned over the phone.
With Stefan standing right there, though, she couldn’t bring it up. Instead, she shot Allison a meaningful glance before quickly ushering her into her car.
As for Stefan? He was left to ride in the car his assistant had sent for him.
Watching helplessly as his wife and daughter were whisked away, Stefan stood frozen for a moment before sighing and climbing into his own car.
'No worries,' he thought. 'There’s always tomorrow.'
