Jane slightly shook her head in a daze, "I... I'm fine."
Georgia noticed this. Her expression turned a bit odd, but she didn’t say anything.
However, the waitstaff on the scene had gleaned from their conversation that Jane was not expected at the banquet and was giving her odd looks.
Jane, who was standing dumbfounded, noticed that the people around were looking at her strangely. She was taken aback. Earlier, it was Ariana who didn't hold on tight. It was her fault!
She wanted to explain that it was all due to Ariana's carelessness, but she kept silent.
Because she knew if she said that, it would seem that she was being rude, but if she apologized, it would seem as if she was at fault.
The waiter beside Georgia noticed a red mark on Ariana's fair ankle and shouted quickly, "Miss Ariana, your foot is bleeding!"
"Huh?"
Ariana looked at her foot belatedly and realized that she had accidentally hurt herself, and felt a pang of regret.
"How can you be so careless!"
Georgia quickly stepped forward to support Ariana, reprimanding her and motioning for someone to fetch a band-aid.
She chuckled as she looked at the wound on her foot, "It's alright, it's just a small injury. The dress is long enough to cover it when I stand."
Georgia frowned as she looked at the wound on her foot, and said worriedly, "The birthday banquet later may be quite long, and you'll be in high heels all the time which will certainly be tough."
At this moment, a waiter brought a band-aid. She also held a pair of heels that were quite short. After applying the band-aid to Ariana, she helped her put on the new shoes.
She said, "These heels are comparatively shorter, but luckily, Miss Ariana is rather tall so it won't make any difference. Also, Miss Ariana, you have beautiful feet. Even if exposed, they will be pleasing to the eyes, so please don't worry too much."
Georgia was satisfied with the efficiency of the waiter and graciously said, "Thank you."
The waiter replied, "You're welcome, ma'am."
Ariana tried to stand up and fortunately, didn't feel any discomfort. "I feel quite good."
"That's good," Georgia responded with a sigh of relief. She glanced at the time and found it was quite late. She paused momentarily and turned to Jane, "The car should be waiting for you outside. Go home first."
"Okay." Jane noticed something off in Georgia's tone. She opened her mouth to say something but then didn’t dare to. She realized she had no choice but to leave for the time being.
Watching Jane's receding figure, Ariana's eyes were slightly cold.
Even though it was somewhat cruel, she couldn't be blamed. Just like the rule of the jungle, if one is not cruel, he might become someone's meal the next day.
It is a tough task to diminish her parents' fondness for Jane. Ariana especially disliked Jane for enjoying her parents' affection, while planning to harm them.
Georgia brought Ariana to the Stone Haven Hotel, a subsidiary of the Stone family. Gilbert had already arrived with other men, while the women came just in time for the banquet.
Ariana was the younger generation. Thus, in this kind of situation, it was not her place to speak.
After accompanying Gilbert and Georgia to greet people from various big families, young people like them were allowed to chat on their own.
Ariana rarely attended banquets in the past because the young people and socialites she met were generally of the spoilt type. Growing up in a privileged environment crafted their exceptionally strong characters.
In her former life, Ariana considered herself above such matters and disliked being compared to these people, so she always let Jane attend in her place.
