Third Person POV

John didn’t have time to stay stunned for long; he was quickly ordered to fetch several more tranquilizers to have on standby.
As for Aubrey, she hadn’t completely lost consciousness. She heard John telling them to stop the experiment and felt a trace of surprise. The guy had cursed her so badly before, yet he was actually speaking up for her at this moment. He was pretty stupid, though, needing Ginnie to tell him before he finally realized she was the live–specimen test subject.
This thought only lasted for two seconds before dissipating, because Aubrey found the images in her mind flashing faster and faster, and her breathing grew increasingly rapid. The anxious voices of the werewolf doctors around her were gradually replaced by the ethereal sound of a piano…
Gradually, the piano music became clearer and more intense, clearly agitated. Just from the sound, one could tell the pianist was using a virtuosic display to vent–venting a strong, dissatisfied frustration. But listening closely, one could also detect a trace of childish unease.
Aubrey found herself seemingly back at the age of five. Her grandmother was holding her, standing outside Henry’s bedroom window.
She froze for a moment, then remembered: this was the day after Henry’s grandfather had passed away.
Grandmother had brought her to visit Henry, but Henry had been absent–minded the whole time. After silently finishing his meal, he had locked himself in his room to practice the piano.
“Aubrey, Henry is in a bad mood…” Grandmother sighed, then placed her on the windowsill and knocked on the glass.
The Henry inside was clearly very unhappy. He furiously slammed a heavy chord before coming to open the window, his face full of anger!
But the moment he saw Aubrey, he instantly froze. His voice inexplicably dropped an octave. “Aubrey, what are you doing here?”
At that time, she just giggled foolishly at him. He didn’t see Grandmother and was afraid she would fall from the window, so he lifted her into the room.
“Big brother, you smell so good…” She nestled in Henry’s arms, sniffing left and right, and finally even wanted to pinch Henry’s slightly flushed face.
But Henry stopped her, telling her not to touch. He looked very serious, very unhappy, his

filled with sadness.
She looked up, flashing a devastatingly pure and sweet smile.
Under her expectant gaze, Henry finally ate the candy with a look of disdain. She grinned like a cat that had stolen the cream. She had paid the price of one candy; Henry had eaten it, so now he was her person.
This long scene was actually just a flash in her mind, but the details were presented with perfect clarity in that instant.
Aubrey’s memory was sharp; she could remember things from when she was one year old. But she had never recalled this, because she had felt it was meaningless.
This time, however, she found she remembered her chubby little outstretched hand, the pink and white candy wrapper, and Henry’s slightly shining eyes and flushed face. She remembered it all, more clearly than a bystander.
She suddenly realized that the Henry from her childhood hadn’t hated her. He might have even liked her a little…
