Aubrey was clutching her stomach, famished. Alpha Henry decided not to waste time being affectionate and took her to eat first.
There were always spare clothes for Aubrey in the room, so after a quick wash, she planned to change.
But…
Aubrey’s hand had just grazed the buttons of her pajamas when her gaze met his–a scorching stare that seemed ready to burst into flames.
Alpha Henry hadn’t left. Instead, he was leaning leisurely against the wardrobe, arms crossed. His eyes were practically undressing her.
“You…! Get out!” Aubrey glared at him.
Alpha Henry raised an eyebrow, his tone self–righteous and even a bit roguish. “Why? What inch of you haven’t I seen? Haven’t I touched?”
“It’s different now!” Aubrey was exasperated. “We are siblings, witnessed by the Moon Goddess. We can’t cross the line!”
The moment the words left her mouth, the memory of the kiss she had secretly pressed to his lips while he slept last night–the one she couldn’t control, yet quickly fled from–shot into her mind. Intense shame made her ears burn bright red, and a flush spread all the way down her neck.
When Alpha Henry caught that unnatural blush on her face, a mixture of shyness and recollection, his eyes narrowed slightly. This reaction… it wasn’t just because he was watching her change.
He was about to probe further, but Aubrey, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, was desperate to end the topic. Her voice rose. “Just get out!”
Her obvious attempt to cover up only amused him. He let out a low laugh and stopped teasing her. But he didn’t move. Instead, he dropped a bombshell: “Siblings? Not for long.”
Aubrey froze.
“I got the potion that severs the sibling contract.”

Sever the sibling contract… This meant the bond between them would completely disappear. The shackle she had been clinging to–to resist him, and to resist her own descent—would instantly shatter.
Alpha Henry knew she was right. He made an impatient sound, suppressing the urgent need to strip her of the ‘sister‘ title, and compromised. “Fine. As soon as this is all completely resolved, I’ll drink it.”
He gave her a deep look, one that seemed to say, “Let’s see what excuse you use to avoid me then.” Only then did he finally turn and reluctantly pull open the door, walking out.
The door clicked shut.
Staring at the closed door, imagining Aubrey changing on the other side, Alpha Henry felt utterly aggrieved.
He was ravenous in a certain department.
Could anyone be more pathetic? He’d raised his little wife for twenty years and only had a taste once! Just once!
If this got out, it would go down in the annals of the most pathetic alphas…
