In Alpha Henry’s eyes–the eyes of an apex predator–there was a surprising glint of hurt. “Aubrey, do you really not want to see me that much…?”
Here we go again. This apex alpha, who could tear a beta werewolf apart with his bare hands, had recently taken to looking at her with this pitiful, pleading gaze.
“I…” Aubrey explained weakly, “That’s not what I meant…”

“So you did miss me, then?” Alpha Henry’s eyes lit up again.
At that, Aubrey almost lost her stern expression. This alpha, pretending to be a harmless cub, always reminded her of that out–of–control kiss in this very room. Her collarbone began to tingle hotly at the memory.
Besides, she had been planning to sneak off to Mateo’s after work. With Alpha Henry here, how was she supposed to get away?
She cleared her throat. “This is my workplace. You can’t just bother me like this…”
Remembering what had happened in this room last time, Aubrey flushed and said sternly,
ng work hours, I only see patients! So…”
“D
“But I am sick!” Alpha Henry made himself comfortable in the chair opposite her.
Aubrey didn’t believe him for a second. She looked at him and asked, “And what’s wrong with you this time?”
“Touch starvation.” Alpha Henry grabbed both her hands, grinning. “I’m suffering from touch starvation. I’m desperate for you. Hmm… holding your hands… that feels a little better!”
“…” Aubrey tried to pull away, saying flatly, “Sorry, that’s not something I treat.”
“Oh, you can.” Alpha Henry’s playful expression turned serious for a moment, and he said in a low, rich voice, “I’m hopelessly sick for you, Aubrey. And you… you’re my only cure.”
There it was again… Ever since Henry had started acting like this, Aubrey was completely at a loss. for how to handle him. Damn it, he’s not going to start coming here every single day, is he?
“Hungry?” Alpha Henry chuckled, having completely seized control of the situation. “I ordered us food from the Serenity Cafe. Their truffle soup is famous. You’ll love it.”

He gave her a tug, but Aubrey didn’t budge. “I… I still have patients.”
Alpha Henry stood up and gave her a knowing smirk. “I know perfectly well I’m the last one. And if you don’t want to leave… we could just stay here. Like last time. You could help me… alleviate my ‘touch starvation‘?”
Damn it, he’s completely shameless!
In the end, Aubrey resigned herself to her fate and was led away by Alpha Henry. There was no one else here. If he suddenly… went into rut, she’d have nowhere to run. A public place was definitely safer.
They arrived at the Serenity Cafe. They had been seated for less than two minutes when the food began to arrive, one dish after another. It all looked delicious and sumptuous, but for some reason, Aubrey felt the crisp sound of the pre–dinner bread snapping sounded like the countdown of a guillotine…
Recently, Alpha Henry had been finding all sorts of new ways to take her out to eat–candlelight dinners, “snow dance” banquets, barbecue on a cruise ship. Wasn’t he just fattening her up for the slaughter?
Aubrey pondered this question as she sipped her soup.
Just then, someone at the next table suddenly dropped a tray. A waiter hurried over to clean up, and then called for a janitor to deal with the food scraps on the floor.

en she saw who the janitor was, Aubrey’s pupils contracted.
Alpha Henry followed her gaze and frowned. “Aurelia? What is she doing here?”
Aubrey shook her head. “Ever since dad made her leave, I heard she went to find Bailey. I don’t know why she’s here. I guess Bailey didn’t take her in.”
Aurelia was busy cleaning the floor. As Aubrey watched, she seemed to sense it and looked up. Her expression instantly froze.
“Hurry up and clean! What are you spacing out for?” The waiter kicked the mop bucket on the floor with the tip of his shoe, urging her impatiently.
