Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 106

Annie suddenly recalled the female executive from Parker Group, who had quietly helped her.

When she gave it some more thought, she started to think that Christian might be telling the truth. Parker Group offered excellent benefits and was very fair.

Moments later, Elise returned in her heels, carrying a tray. On it lay the gown Annie had first fallen in love with—the mermaid-cut wedding gown adorned with crushed diamonds.

"We've brought you the gown, Ms. Steward. Would you like to try it on?"

Annie hesitated. Her instinct was to decline since she didn't want more drama. "No need. The one I'm wearing is perfectly fine."

But Elise insistently extended the tray toward her, wearing a standard, humble smile and a deferential expression.

"Ms. Steward, what happened today was entirely our fault. Please accept this gown as a small token of our apology."

The sincere gesture was almost impossible to turn down. Annie took the exquisite gown in her arms and turned to return to the fitting room.

As soon as the door closed behind her, the warm smile vanished from Christian's face. His sharp, cold gaze snapped toward Elise, who stood stiffly to the side.

Under his stare, Elise felt her scalp tingle and cold sweat break out along her back. She quickly leaned in and apologized in a hushed voice, audible only to the two of them.

"The responsible employee has been dismissed without delay, Mr. Parker. We humbly ask that you don't hold this unfortunate matter against us."

Christian's gaze remained icy. That day was supposed to be a special day for him and Annie, so he didn't want it ruined by insignificant people or events.

"Make sure it's the last time." Those six words were softly uttered, but his voice carried a quiet, immense weight.
