Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 108

Christian's low voice held a captivating magnetism, and the way he called Annie "dear" sounded so natural. It was as if he had practiced it a thousand times.

Annie's heart skipped a beat, and heat rushed uncontrollably to her cheeks.

Although it was just a term for their act, coming from him, it carried an indescribable intimacy and earnestness that inexplicably flustered her. Almost instinctively, she wanted to avoid his intense gaze.

That was how Christian always was. He would use the gentlest tone to say the sweetest lines and unravel her defenses like it was nothing.

She steadied herself and forcefully pushed down that strange flutter in her chest. Her lips lifted into a smile as she said, "In that case, I'll cover the costs for the rest of the wedding and its venue."

She couldn't just comfortably accept the way he paid for everything. This marriage was a partnership, so she figured that she should shoulder her share of the responsibility.

Christian's smile deepened at that. He reached out and affectionately ruffled her hair in a natural, familiar gesture.

"That won't be necessary. I've taken care of everything."

When she blinked, clearly startled, he shifted his tone to add a hint of playfulness. "Still, I might need to count on you for financial support for the next few months."

Annie stared at him, then burst into laughter at his feigned pitiful look.

The weight and sense of unease in her chest instantly dissolved. He always had a way to diffuse her worries.

"No problem at all," she replied and grinned. Her tone was more relaxed than ever as she continued, "I'd be more than happy to back you up, Mr. Parker."

The curve of Christian's lips lifted higher in a wider grin. He opened the car door and shielded her head as she got in.
