Hearing that, Annie let out a cold laugh. "Oh, really? I remember you barely knew William before. Funny how you're suddenly so close now."
Sean froze. Being exposed so bluntly made his entire face burn red.
He stared at Annie's cold profile, and for some reason, that child they never got to meet in their past life flashed through his mind again. Lately, the memory surfaced more and more. "Annie, I…"
His Adam's apple bobbed. His voice turned hoarse. "It's just that I…"
Annie tore herself out of his grip. "Sean, stay away from me!"
She yelled before striding off without looking back.
Sean stood frozen. When he turned his head, his gaze accidentally fell on a black car parked by the curb. It was an ordinary car, nothing special.
The window rolled down slowly, revealing a handsome man with an icy expression. It was Annie's new lover.
Sean felt his anger had finally found a target. He marched toward the car. He was the one Annie loved most. Who the hell did this pretty boy think he was? "I don't care who you are."
Sean stopped by the window, looking down at Christian with open hostility. "Annie loves me the most. Do yourself a favor and stay away from her. Don't delude yourself."
Just then, a tearful voice rang out behind him. "Sean!"
Cecilia rushed over to Sean's side, eyes brimming with tears as she looked up at him. "Did you… Did you fall for Annie? If you did, I can leave. I won't get in the way…"
Sean's attention snapped back immediately. He turned at once and pulled Cecilia into his arms, his voice urgent with reassurance. "Cecilia, what are you talking about? Of course not. You're the only one I love."
Inside the car, Christian watched the pathetic scene in silence. So this was the man who hurt Annie. He was nothing impressive at all.
