Regret Came Too Late (Grace and Ethan) novel Chapter 469

Grace had now been thrown into another car.

Lucian tied a piece of black cloth over her eyes as he threatened her, "Ms. Lambert, it would be best for you to cooperate. You're just going to get yourself hurt if you resist."

Grace didn't move and let the cloth cover her eyes. She could tell the car had changed directions, and the people in the car had been careful not to talk the whole time.

These people seemed more professional than the ones who had come after her in the past.

After driving for an hour, they finally stopped. One of them hoisted her over his shoulder. After walking for quite some distance, she was thrown to the ground. As the door closed shut, the world became silent.

Grace's hands were tied behind her back, so she could only try to get up first. Using a fixed point for support, she managed to get up and then rubbed the blindfold off her face.

There was no light around her aside from a faint beam coming through the small window at the top. It was clear the kidnappers were still guarding outside.

Her gaze scanned her surroundings. But because of the ropes tied around her legs, she couldn't move very well and almost tripped on a stone.

She quickly changed directions and moved her hands against the stone back and forth, hoping the rope could snap.

The kidnappers were surprisingly patient, clearly waiting for someone's order. Since they hadn't received a call, they didn't make any move. So, she had to make the most of this time to escape.

Just as the rope on her hands loosened, Grace quickly bent down to loosen the ones on her legs and then stood under the small window. The window was high up, about nine feet off the ground. Besides some stones, the room was bare. There was nothing that could help her reach the window.

She could only pick the sharpest stone in the pile. Then, she found two broken sticks in the corner. She used the ropes to tie the sticks and the stone together to make a simple weapon. She gave it a few swings to test it, and it seemed like it could do some damage.

Grace stood at the back of the door, quietly waiting for the kidnappers to come in. However, there were still no footsteps coming from outside even after she waited for an hour.
