Samson told me Guardians were strong, but this woman has my entire pack on their knees. No, not my entire pack. Not one omega is on their knees. And when she turned that anger on me, I felt the same need to drop to my knees. It was only Samson’s strength that kept us on our feet.
‘She’s magnificent,’ Samson purrs in my head.
‘Why are the omegas immune to her aura?’
‘They aren’t. She’s ...’ he tilts his head in my mind. ‘She’s directing it around them.’
‘How?’
‘She’s a Guardian,' he says as if this explains everything.
“Perhaps if you had interrupted your little tryst with this woman when the gate guard tried to contact you, you would have known that your Alpha had returned with his mate,” Reagan says, growling at Markus before turning to me.
“If I were you, Alpha, I would have a serious conversation with your Beta about his obvious lack of leadership.”
Without waiting for a response, she turns back to the pack.
“As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, I am Alpha Reagan. I am your Alpha’s mate. This is my friend Meadow,” she says, pointing to Meadow without looking at her. “I am a Guardian and for those of you who don’t know what that means, the name says it all. My mother’s wolf was blessed by the Moon Goddess and therefore, so am I. I am stronger than any other wolf except another Guardian and I do not tolerate abuse of any kind in any pack. Effective immediately, any pack member who is abusive or bullies another will be placed in a cell ...” She stops, turning to look at me.
“You do have cells, right?” She asks, her tone dripping with derision.
Samson growls softly. “Of course I do. This is a pack after all.”
She gives me the fakest smile I’ve ever seen before turning back to them.
“You will be placed in a cell, evicted from the pack, or killed for your crimes,” she finishes.
“Alpha, you can’t be serious. She just walked in here and you’re going to let her speak to us like this,” Markus says.
Samson pushes forward, growling angrily.
“Do not question your future Luna. What she says goes and you should know that I don’t allow abuse or bullying in my pack either.”
I see Corinna look down as if she doesn’t believe me. She’s still standing beside Reagan who seems to be keeping her close.
“Or at least, I didn’t before I started going feral,” I amend.
“Any questions?” Reagan asks.
When no one does, she releases her aura and turns to Corinna.
“What is your name?” she asks her softly.
“Corinna, Luna. Or is it Alpha? Or Guardian?”
“Any of those is fine. Have you seen a doctor, Corinna?”
“I’m okay.”
Reagan looks at me. “You do have a pack doctor, right?” The way she asks makes it clear that she’s not happy with the management of this pack and is questioning if this pack runs like a pack should.
“Yes, we have a pack doctor,” I say through gritted teeth.
“Gamma Elias, can you please take Corinna to the pack doctor.”
“Really, Luna, it’s okay,” Corinna says.
“Corinna, I felt you flinch when I touched your side. I want to make sure that you don’t have any cracked ribs. And I want to know if anyone hurts you or threatens you again.”
