Shattered by the Alpha Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 105

Chapter91

Trigger warning for pregnancy loss.

Before we start this chapter, I request one thing. I am no medical expert, nor do I have anyone who can help, except Google of course and what I’ve seen my family or friends go through. So please spare me if something is missing. I’ve spent my last three days on this chapters.

Karissa

I sprang out of bed in the morning, feeling an extra bounce in my step and a smile spreading across my face. There was a lighthearted, carefree quality to my morning that I couldn’t quite explain.

Doing my business and changing I made my way to the kitchen to start breakfast, I couldn’t help but think of Deckard and all the ways he had been there for me. He had been an absolute rock, and I felt grateful for his presence in my life. I decided then and there that I wanted to do something special for him, to show my appreciation for everything he had done. A hearty breakfast seemed like the perfect place to start

I stood frozen in the doorway, my plans for a thoughtful breakfast folled by Deckard’s early rising. A sigh escaped my lips as I expressed my disappointment, I was going to make you breakfast, Decks.

Deckard turned to me, his hair still damp from the shower, and offered a gentle smile. I get up at 5, Hamsty,he claims innocently, as if to say. What can I say? I’m an early bird.

His eyes sparkled with a touch of concern, noticing my disappointment. But then, his expression shifted, and he nodded towards the counter, I made your favorite muffins. My gaze followed his gesture, and my eyes landed on the tray, filled with freshly baked muffins. The sweet aroma refreshing, and my mouth began to water.

The breakfast rush was a whirlwind of activity, with Deckard and I moving in frenzy we prepared to part ways for the day. I had an interview at an event planning agency, they ringed this morning to see if I could make it today.

Deckard had some important phone calls to attend to. As I hastily grabbed my jacket from the couch, he looked up from his phone, concern etched on his face. Are you sure you don’t want me to drive you there?he asked, with a gentle insistence.

1 turned to him, smoothing out my hair one last time as I reassured him, I’m fine, really. I’m more worried about you getting bored here.I added a chuckle to lighten the mood, but Deckard’s expression remained subdued. He shrugged, his shoulders relaxed.

Til find something to do,he said, his voice unconvincingly flat. For a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of sadness in his eyes, as if the thought of being in my absence was somehow unsettling. But it was quickly replaced by his usual calm demeanor, leaving me to wonder if I had just imagined it.

Go nall it, Hamsty,he pushed his cheerful tone and encouraging words echoing in my mind as I made my way to the door. I smiled and waved back at him.

As I left the interview, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I had been politely dismissed.. I had a nagging sense that they had already made up their minds, and that my previous experience at one of the biggest event agencies wasn’t enough to outweigh their concerns. I wondered if they had assumed I was fired from my previous job, rather than having left on my own terms. I was hopeful so it came off as an subtle disappointment.

I quickly typed out a text to Deckard, letting him know that I was meeting Xaviera for lunch. Unfortunately, our catchup session was cut short when she received an urgent call from work and had to rush off. I hurried back home, my mind already shitting to my next appointment. Deckard wasn’t present when I arrived, but his texts kept me updated on his whereabouts. He had stopped by Hendrix’s law firm to take care of some business.

I had just enough time to change before Keith arrived to pick me up. As I rushed to get ready, I couldn’t help but feel regretful for agreeing to go with him. But I pushed the thought aside, telling myself that I could always say no next time.

As we drove to the hospital, Keith surprised me by pulling over at my favorite smoothie spot. He got out of the car and returned with favorite drink, a thoughtful gesture that I was humanly grateful for. As we continued on our way, I could sense his occasional gaze on me, his eyes flicking towards me as he waited for me to break the silence. But I didn’t. The only thing we really needed to discuss was the baby, and I figured the doctor would fill him in on all the necessary details. Anything else seemed pointless, so I simply sat there,
