Kael reached for me, but froze when he saw the unfiltered scom on my lace

Everything she’d schemed for–using every dirty trick in the book–popped like sea foam at sunrise, gone in a blink.

Kael, though? He turned into someone else entirely. He started showing up everywhere, a silent shadow trailing me.

After work, his footsteps echoed ten feet behind, steady as a heartbeat.

“What the hell do you want?” I finally cornered him at the stairwell.
