She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 143

Bryce looked genuinely interested.

Beneath his laid-back exterior, he was surprisingly sharp when it came to business. Otherwise, the York family elders would never even consider handing over such a massive empire to him.

“So, what do you think about teaming up?” he asked, propping his chin on his hand, trying for a thoughtful look. “How do you want to develop the land? What’s your vision for it, and how much investment are we talking about?”

“I haven’t really figured out those details yet,” Sabrina replied. “Let’s wait until the transfer contract is in hand before making any plans.”

She had already given Hector three days to prepare, but knowing him, there was no way he’d just roll over and hand it over quietly.

Losing the title of Glenwood Gambling Deity in this competition had to sting. If he didn’t try to get revenge, that would be mercy enough. If he actually came through and handed over the deed as promised, that would say a lot about his character—at least he’d be honest and keep his word.

Marshall, on the other hand, had been suspiciously quiet. It didn’t add up. Was he really willing to part with ten million just like that? Sure, for someone like him, ten million was pocket change—a small project in his portfolio, nothing more. But businessmen cared about profit, and he hadn’t gotten anything he wanted from her. For him to give so much and not try to get something in return just wasn’t his style.

Changing the subject, Sabrina asked, “Does the York family do business with the Harper family?”

Bryce’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly. “You know quite a bit, don’t you?” he said with a wry smile. “Well, to be accurate, the Harper family has been trying to get in on a partnership with us for a while now. But…”

He paused, giving a noncommittal shrug. “I’m still thinking it over. Their proposal has some major holes. Business is all about profit, and if there’s none to be made, I’m not interested.”

“Oh,” Sabrina replied lightly, sensing that was as far as she should push.

She hadn’t expected him to be so forthcoming.

Tiny beads of sweat dotted his forehead. Thank goodness nothing serious had happened. If there’d been an accident with the York family’s golden boy in the car… just the thought made him shudder.

Bryce was shaken. Was tonight cursed? This was the first time anything like this had happened to him—and with the Gambling Deity herself in the car, no less. Come on, give me a break!

“Hurry up and check!” Bryce managed to keep his frustration in check, barking the order at the driver.

The driver didn’t dare waste a second; he leapt out and hurried to inspect the car.

Bryce gave Sabrina an apologetic smile, a hint of embarrassment on his face. “Sorry about this. Looks like the car’s decided to give us trouble.”

Sabrina shook her head. “If you weren’t giving me a ride, your car probably wouldn’t have broken down. Maybe call someone to take a look?”
