After dousing them, Sabrina headed straight for the underground garage, slid into her sports car, and sped off.
She left behind a disheveled Sommer and a furious Celine.
Sabrina, on the other hand, was in high spirits, her car pulsing with lively music. The thrill of what she’d just done brought a satisfied smile to her lips.
She wasn’t afraid of divine retribution. Whatever punishment the universe could throw at her, she’d already endured worse.
After a leisurely stroll through the mall, Sabrina emerged with bags full of purchases—some new toys for Lennox and Yvette, a necklace for Jenna.
She made her way to Faye’s place—no, that wasn’t right anymore. It was Jocelyn Holt’s home now.
Ever since Cyrus Harper’s death, Jocelyn had drawn a clear line between herself and her past. She’d told Sabrina that “Faye” was a name Cyrus had given her, one she never wanted to hear again. From now on, she would be herself—Jocelyn.
“I got here at just the right time,” Sabrina announced as she stepped into the living room, catching the mouthwatering aroma of dinner. She couldn’t resist teasing a little.
The moment Lennox and Yvette spotted her, they tore across the room on their short legs and flung themselves into her arms.
“Sabrina, Yvette says she wants to be just like you when she grows up!” Lennox beamed, his face full of innocent pride.
Sabrina blinked, a little taken aback.
What was there about her to emulate? Fighting? Violence? Her ice-cold temperament?
She ruffled Lennox’s hair, then Yvette’s. “And what exactly are you hoping to learn from me?” she asked, glancing at Yvette with a gentle, tentative smile—still getting used to the gesture.
Yvette blinked up at her, tilting her little head, utterly serious. “I want to be as strong as you, Sabrina. That way, I can fight off the bad guys. No one will ever dare bully me again.”
Sabrina: !!!
Jocelyn could only shake her head, smiling fondly at Yvette. “She saw that video of you fighting, and now she thinks you’re a superhero.”
Sabrina: …
After lunch, the kids raced upstairs to build with Legos, leaving Sabrina and Jocelyn to sit in the living room with coffee.
Jocelyn filled her in on the latest happenings in Port City.
“The Harper and Watson families’ businesses are done for. The Harper family’s stocks have crashed. And I heard they’re trying to get in touch with the Yorks to buy back that plot in Goldcrest District.”
Jocelyn slid a plate of fresh fruit in front of Sabrina and gave her a pointed look. “You need to be prepared.”
Sabrina nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered.”
Marshall Harper knew there was no way he’d get that land from her. Now he was hoping the York family would help him buy it back.
Dream on.
Bryce York couldn’t make that decision for her, even if he wanted to. And even if he could, she’d never let that plot fall back into Marshall’s hands.
