She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 312

“She wouldn’t really let her child be born without a father, would she?”

If any of Cliff’s men had overheard what she just said, they would have instantly called out her lie. But Cliff, hopelessly blinded by infatuation, had other things on his mind. All he could think about was how to win Celine’s heart.

With Hester’s constant coaxing, he was beginning to believe that he might actually have a shot at earning Celine’s love. Especially after Hester suggested that he should try to have a child with Celine—his heart was already racing at the thought.

He stroked his chin, deep in thought.

Just then, one of his men swaggered over, shooting Hester a leering grin. “Boss, the knife’s ready. Want me to give this woman a taste of pain?”

Cliff shot the man a warning glare. “Get lost.”

The grunt shrank back, glancing nervously at Hester sprawled on the floor. He had no idea what this woman had said to the boss to make him call off the violence, but as a low-level thug, he knew better than to question orders.

Hester could tell Cliff was seriously considering her proposal, so she pressed her advantage, continuing to sow her poisonous ideas.

“If you want my sister to fall for you sooner, you’ve got to deal with Marshall quickly. Right now, she isn’t that attached to him, so it’ll be much easier for you to win her over.”

Cliff crouched down and narrowed his eyes, studying the woman before him. “Hold on. You and Celine can’t stand each other. Why are you suddenly so eager to help me?”

Hester cursed him silently for being such an idiot. Out loud, she said, “My sister and I had a misunderstanding. Sabrina got between us and twisted everything, so now Celine thinks the worst of me. It’s a long story—I’ll tell you more when I have the chance.”

Sabrina reached out and took the food. She eyed the instant noodles with obvious distaste. How had she fallen so low that she was forced to eat this junk? On any other day, she’d rather starve than touch it. But here, trapped in this den of wolves, she had no choice.

She hadn’t eaten since the night before. She really was hungry.

It didn’t take long to finish the noodles. She ate some bread, drank a little water. Only when she was full did she feel strong enough to contemplate escape.

She glanced around. They were in an abandoned warehouse. The sound of cars outside told her they weren’t too far from civilization. If she could just make it out, she could find the police and get help—and maybe even find Hector. And even if Hector couldn’t help, she knew Sommer wouldn’t leave her in the lurch.

Once she’d finished eating, Cliff came over. They spent a while plotting how to get rid of Marshall—though Cliff had no idea that Hester was lying through her teeth the entire time.
