Hannah crossed her arms, determination flashing in her eyes. “Maya, stop worrying. I’ll call in a few friends—let’s teach her a lesson. There’s no way I’m letting this go.”

Simon, always the loudest of the guys, spoke up for the group. “Seriously, this is the first time I’ve ever been hit by a girl. I’m not letting it slide. I’m in. But listen, our families can’t find out about this, alright?”

He shot a look around the circle. “Sabrina might be the Sutton family’s long-lost daughter, but she’s just another student to us. Who’s with me?”

“I’m in!” one guy chimed.

“Count me, too,” said another.

Not a single person objected. The whole group was fired up to get back at Sabrina.

Maya sighed, resigned, and followed the crowd.

Meanwhile, Kyson noticed the group huddled together, whispering with intense faces. His stomach dropped. Wiping sweat from his brow, he glanced at the stern-faced school administrators standing nearby. Deciding it was best to keep a low profile, he melted into the background.

After the hospital visit, everyone filed onto the school bus. The administrators tried to calm the students, promising they'd get to the bottom of things. They announced that Sabrina’s parents would be called in the next day to discuss what happened.

The students’ reactions were immediate—and panicked.

Simon protested, “Please, there’s really no need! My dad’s just left town for work. He’s too busy to come in. Honestly, it was just a stupid argument between classmates. No big deal.”

Hannah chimed in, “Yeah, my parents are both slammed at work. They really can’t spare the time.”

Lacy added, “My mom had to rearrange her whole day just to come in today. Besides, none of us are seriously hurt. Please don’t call her again.”

At the end of the day, as the halls emptied, Lacy stepped in front of Sabrina, blocking her way.

“Meet me outside the front gate in half an hour,” she said coldly. “We’re settling this, once and for all.”

Sabrina’s eyes glinted with understanding. So this was what they’d been plotting. She’d wondered why everyone had been so quiet.

Interesting.

“Sure,” Sabrina replied, arching a brow, her lips curled in a smug little grin. She almost seemed to be enjoying the drama.

Lacy saw the hint of a challenge in Sabrina’s calm smile and felt her blood boil. With a huff, she spun on her heel and stormed away.
