**Chapter 248: Pearls Everywhere**
“Kieran, please, just take a moment to breathe,” Emma urged softly, her voice barely above a whisper as she tried to soothe his frayed nerves. “I’m feeling a bit weary. Could you help me back to bed? I just need to rest for a while.”
“Be good now,” she thought to herself. “Keep your tears contained within these walls. That way, the pearls won’t spill out into the hallway.”
In the safety of the room, Kieran could let his emotions flow freely without worry. Yet, despite his best intentions, the sight of Emma’s frail figure tugged at his heartstrings, and soon, tears streamed down his cheeks once more.
“Ms. Tibarn, allow me to assist you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion as he gently lifted her up, wrapping a supportive arm around her waist. Together, they made their way back to the bedroom, each step releasing a cascade of pearls that tumbled across the floor, glimmering in the soft light.
Emma’s gaze swept over the room, and her heart sank at the sight of the pink pearls rolling chaotically everywhere. She turned to Kieran, who was still lost in his sorrow, his tears falling like rain. The sight was both heartbreaking and worrisome; she feared he might cry until he ran dry.
“Kieran, I beg you, please stop crying,” she pleaded, her voice filled with genuine concern.
“Ms. Tibarn… I… seeing you like this, it’s just too much for me!” he sobbed, his emotions spilling over uncontrollably.
He was utterly helpless, unable to rein in the torrent of tears. Pearls continued to accumulate around Emma’s hands, creating a shimmering carpet beneath them.
Malrik, who had trailed behind them, was nearly buried beneath the mountain of pearls, his little form lost in the sea of glistening orbs. Emma realized she couldn’t allow Kieran to continue weeping like this; it was too much for both of them.
With Malrik present, she couldn’t share the truth just yet. The weight of her secret pressed heavily on her chest, so she activated her lightcore and summoned Marcus and the others upstairs.
Corvin and Edric had just wrapped up their cooking when they received her urgent message. They dashed up the stairs, their curiosity piqued.
As the door swung open, Corvin froze at the sight before him—a veritable ocean of pearls littering the floor. The sheer volume was astonishing.
“Did Kieran really cry this many pearls?” he wondered, incredulous.
He recalled the time Lucien had hosted the Merfolk elders at the manor; even their collective sorrow hadn’t produced such a bounty. Kieran truly lived up to his title as the Merfolk king.
Edric and Marcus followed closely behind, their eyes widening in shock at the surreal scene. This fish could really cry.
Marcus stepped into the room, carefully lifting Malrik from the mound of pearls before turning his attention to Kieran. “Ms. Tibarn, I’ll take these two out first. Corvin can handle the cleanup,” he said gently, trying to maintain the calm atmosphere.
“I’m not going anywhere!” Kieran protested vehemently. “I want to stay right here with Ms. Tibarn.”
“Me too!” Malrik squeaked, his little voice filled with determination.
Emma glanced at Kieran, sensing that if he left, his tears would only continue to flow. “Marcus, please take Cotton Candy out first. I need to speak with Kieran alone,” she instructed, her tone firm yet soft.
