**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 254: The Bloom and the Message**
The little cub bore an uncanny resemblance to Silas, his features so familiar that it sent a shiver down Emma’s spine.
“Alright then,” she whispered, cradling him gently against her chest. “How on earth am I meant to keep you safe?”
With his tear-filled eyes gazing up at her, the cub’s expression flickered with a spark of hope. But just as quickly, that light dimmed, and his tiny shoulders drooped in despair.
“I… I don’t know either,” he murmured, his brow knitting together in concentration. After a moment, a glimmer of realization crossed his face. “Daddy will know! You can ask Daddy!”
“Ms. Tibarn…”
Suddenly, Emma’s eyelids fluttered open, revealing Marcus’s concerned face hovering above her like a protective guardian.
“What’s the matter, Marcus?” she asked, her voice hoarse from sleep.
As soon as she spoke, a wave of relief washed over his features, smoothing out the worry lines that had creased his forehead.
“Ms. Tibarn, you’ve been asleep for three days,” he said softly, his tone gentle yet firm. “It’s time to wake up, have something to eat, and then you can rest again.”
“Three days?” Her eyes widened in disbelief, a rush of confusion flooding her mind.
She could hardly fathom it. In her dream, her conversation with that little cub had felt like mere moments. How could three entire days have slipped away in the real world?
Instinctively, her hand moved to her head, where a spot that had previously itched now revealed a small, firm bump beneath the skin, about the size of a pea.
It pulsed lightly under her touch, the itch intensifying, almost demanding her attention.
Desperate for relief, she reached for one of Silas’s flowers, handing it to Marcus with urgency. “Crush this for me,” she instructed.
Without hesitation, he obeyed, extracting the juice and applying it to the bump. Almost instantly, the irritating sensation subsided, leaving her with a sense of calm.
Just then, Corvin appeared at the door, balancing a tray laden with food.
Downstairs, Edric was keeping a watchful eye on Cotton Candy, ensuring the creature remained contained.
While Emma had been lost in her slumber, Malrik had tried to visit her multiple times, but Marcus had always been there to block his path. His overprotectiveness only fueled Malrik’s anxiety, especially as Emma’s condition seemed to worsen day by day; three days of uninterrupted sleep was alarming.
As Corvin ascended the stairs with the tray, Malrik’s heart raced with anticipation, eager to see her awake. Yet, Edric’s hand on his shoulder halted him before he could move.
Corvin burst into Emma’s room, and a radiant smile broke across his face as he spotted her emerging from the bathroom.
“Emma! You’re finally awake!”
If he hadn’t been juggling the tray, he surely would have rushed to embrace her in a warm hug.
