**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 354: Marcus Wants to Kill Malrik?!**
As Malrik listened with rapt attention, he blinked his deep, dark eyes, a look of confusion washing over his face as he directed his gaze at Marcus. “Daddy, why aren’t you with my biological mom? Why are you always around Ms. Tibarn?”
Marcus felt a knot tighten in his stomach, and a wave of tension coursed through his body. The innocent inquiry from his son struck him like a bolt of lightning, igniting a storm of frustration within him.
He could almost feel his blood pressure rising, the throbbing veins at his temples pulsing with a fierce intensity, as if they were ready to burst from the pressure of his emotions.
This fool!
Today, I intend to kill him, no matter what!
“Malrik!!!” Each word escaped his lips through clenched teeth, his fist swinging ominously toward Malrik, a force that could level mountains.
“Marcus!” Emma’s voice sliced through the air, urgent and commanding. She quickly wrapped her arms around him from behind, pulling him back just before his fist could connect with Malrik’s innocent face. “Calm down, calm down! He’s not thinking straight right now. Let’s not hold this against him.”
Marcus shot daggers at Malrik, his gaze filled with a mix of anger and disbelief.
Emma tightened her grip around his waist, her presence a calming force against the tempest of his rage. She cast a quick glance at Edric, silently pleading for his understanding.
Edric stepped forward, his protective instincts kicking in as he shielded the still oblivious Malrik, pulling him behind him like a knight guarding a vulnerable prince.
Emma continued to soothe Marcus, her voice soft and reassuring. “I understand this is unfair to you. I promise I’ll make it up to you tonight, alright?”
Her tone was gentle, her hand softly patting his chest, which rose and fell with the remnants of his anger. “I’ll help you teach him a lesson, so he never offers you that fruit again, okay?”
Malrik, sensing the tension in the air, crouched behind Edric, peeking out cautiously to survey Marcus’ furious demeanor.
He thought, Daddy seems really angry again.
A frown creased Malrik’s forehead. Why is Daddy so quick to lose his temper today? Is he perhaps hungry?
With that thought, he suddenly turned on his heels and dashed back toward the kitchen, his little feet pattering against the floor.
Marcus’ body instinctively tensed at the sight of Malrik’s retreat.
Sure enough, moments later, Malrik burst back into the room, clutching the largest, roundest fruit he could find, his expression earnest and pleading. “Daddy, please don’t be angry. Malrik will give you the fruit.”
For a moment, Marcus was rendered speechless, his mind racing with a whirlwind of thoughts.
Forget it. Just let the world come to an end!
I genuinely want to die right here and now!
When Emma caught sight of his defeated expression, a pang of sympathy tugged at her heart, and she couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
He looked utterly drained, as if the weight of the world had settled on his shoulders, finally compelled to calm down by the absurdity of the situation.
She took his hand in hers, her touch grounding him, and turned to the guard captain.
“Escort Celia and the Enchanter Clan’s people to the front hall,” she instructed firmly. “Let them know I’ll join them shortly.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the captain guard responded with a nod, before exiting the living room with purpose.
