“I’m up, I’m up,” Dennis said, playing along. He watched her move across the room, her steps still a little clumsy, and almost reached out to help. But she caught him looking and gave him another glare. This side of Camila, fiery and full of life, was something he rarely got to see. The last bit of disappointment in his heart melted away, and suddenly everything felt lighter.

Once they were both dressed, Camila seemed to have bounced back, and they set out together, both in a great mood. The shop had been around for more than a hundred years, making jewelry for royals and nobles. Their craft had been handed down from one generation to the next, and now, they only took on a few special commissions each year.
