The guy in front of him looked young, but he carried this kind of authority that made it impossible to ignore. It was enough to make anyone’s heart race. Instinctively, Professor Keri leaned back in his chair, just a little.
Dennis didn’t bother with small talk. He cut straight to the chase. “Where’s the G-1 antidote?”
His people had already torn through Keri’s place and hadn’t found anything even close to a cure. So Dennis decided to come and ask the man himself.
Professor Keri froze, stunned for a second, then stared at Dennis like he couldn’t believe it. “You grabbed me... for that?”
Aaron shot him a cold look. “You’re not in any position to ask questions. Just answer about the antidote. You’re not young anymore, Professor. You really want to go through all this pain?”
Keri wasn’t used to being treated this way. Usually, anyone who wanted to see him would be all polite and respectful. Now, he was furious, but his survival instinct kicked in. These people were no joke. If they could drag him out of Kaston, they could do anything.
He only hesitated for a moment before blurting out, “There is no antidote for G-1.”
“No antidote?” Aaron’s voice got colder, heavy with suspicion. He clearly thought Keri was lying.
Keri could tell, so he rushed to explain. “Seriously, there isn’t. The drug hasn’t been out long enough. There wasn’t time to make one. Besides, I never bother making antidotes for any of my drugs.”
Dennis’s eyes turned icy, and the tension in the room was thick enough to choke on. Professor Keri swallowed, suddenly sure this was the last person he could fool. Before he could even try, Aaron stepped forward and kicked him hard, sending him and the chair flying to the floor.
“A doctor is supposed to help people, not create poison,” Aaron snapped. “And you still talk like you’re proud of it? Are you seriously proud of this?”
Keri struggled for breath, rolling on the ground. He glared up at Aaron, voice strained. “You said if I talked, you wouldn’t hurt me!”
