Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 118

After hanging up the phone, Camila Davis first dropped Lillian off at school.

Then, she called her best friend to explain the change in her birthday plans.

Her friend didn’t mind at all. In fact, she sounded eager. “Let’s celebrate at the hotel, then! I’ll go with you guys. Honestly, I want to see what that Smith guy is up to!”

Camila chuckled and nodded in agreement.

That evening, the two of them went together to pick Lillian up from school.

As usual, Larry Adams came out holding Lillian’s tiny hand.

The little one looked absolutely delighted, cheeks glowing with a sweet smile, arms full of brightly wrapped gifts.

Camila blinked in surprise. “Wow, what’s all this? Why are you carrying so many things?”

Lillian piped up in her baby voice, “My teacher gave me birthday presents, Mommy!”

Camila glanced at Larry, still a little shocked. “Really?”

Larry smiled. “Yeah, when you signed her up for school, I noticed her birthday on the form. So today, we organized a little surprise with her classmates. The gifts are from the teachers—just a little something we put together.”

Camila was honestly touched. She hadn’t expected Larry to remember something like that from just a quick glance.

She smiled gratefully. “Thank you, Mr. Adams. That’s so thoughtful of you.”

Larry waved it off. “It’s the least we could do. Go enjoy your birthday evening—she looks pretty excited.”

Camila looked down at her daughter, whose bright eyes practically sparkled with anticipation. She couldn’t help but laugh.

After saying goodbye to Larry, Camila and her friend Sarah Brown took Lillian to the car.

Sarah immediately scooped Lillian into her arms. “Alright, birthday girl, come see what Auntie Sarah got you! I picked this out just for you—you’re going to love it!”

She opened a box to reveal the gift: a gorgeous pink dress with a little fox theme, complete with a fluffy tutu skirt, a matching headband with cute ears, and tiny patent leather shoes.

One look and Lillian was in love. She let out a squeal of delight, “Wow!”

That night, as darkness fell, the grand ballroom on the eighth floor of the Smith Group’s flagship hotel was buzzing.

The guest list was impressive: local aristocrats, business leaders, high-ranking executives who knew about Jordan Smith’s marriage, and close family friends of the Smiths.

Everyone was dressed to the nines, champagne flutes in hand, laughter and conversation filling the air.

But as soon as Camila Davis arrived, the energy in the room shifted—just a bit.

She looked stunning in a fiery red cocktail dress that hugged her curves, her makeup flawless, and her dark hair styled in voluminous waves. She walked in confidently on heels, completely owning the room.

By her side, Lillian was a vision in her pink fox dress and headband, cheeks rosy and eyes wide, looking every bit like a porcelain doll come to life.

“Is that… Mrs. Smith?”

“I saw her at the Harris family’s Christmas gala—she was beautiful then, but tonight, she’s absolutely breathtaking!”
