Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 178

Even though Camila Davis was screaming inside, she quickly regained her composure.

She knew Walter Wilson well enough to sense he was up to something sneaky.

Now, when she looked at him, her eyes were even more suspicious.

Across a few seats, Jordan Smith couldn't help but notice the exchange.

From where he sat, it almost looked like Camila and Walter were sharing some kind of secret flirtation.

A surge of anger bubbled up in his chest.

When Camila had asked for a divorce, she’d seemed so nonchalant about it. Now he realized it was probably because she had Walter waiting in the wings, ready to buy her anything she wanted. No wonder she’d been so confident about leaving with nothing.

But now… they weren’t even divorced yet!

Jordan’s eyes grew dark, and his voice was cold as ice. “One hundred and fifty million dollars.”

The room erupted in gasps.

He’d just raised the bid by fifty million dollars?

And from the mouth of Mr. Smith himself, no less.

Were these two about to go head-to-head again? And right in front of the wife and the supposed mistress…

Camila hadn’t expected Jordan to speak up and bid.

Was he stepping in because Sandra Taylor had gone silent, saving her from embarrassment?

Sandra’s face lit up with delight.

Walter’s one hundred million dollar bid earlier had been humiliating enough, but she hadn’t even dared to raise it. Now, to her surprise, Jordan had swooped in to help her buy the necklace.

She looked at him with newfound warmth and gratitude.

Walter hadn’t expected Jordan to play his hand either.

Suddenly, the mood shifted.

Walter, who’d seemed ready to bid to the bitter end, suddenly flashed a cocky grin and said, in a lazy drawl, “Mr. Smith, I’ve got to hand it to you—your business sense is impressive, but your taste? Not so much. Dropping two hundred and fifty million on a plain old diamond? I can’t compete with that. It’s all yours.”

Jordan’s eyes narrowed. He could sense there was more to this.

Sandra picked up on the snide undertone, too.

A “plain old diamond”? Who was he calling tasteless? Was he insulting Jordan, or was that a jab at her—for wanting the necklace in the first place?

Infuriated, she shot back, “Mr. Wilson, you seemed pretty eager to bid just a minute ago.”

Walter shrugged, completely unfazed. “Oh, I was just having some fun with it. Camila’s got expensive taste—she’d never settle for something this basic. Frankly, I agree. It’s not good enough for her anyway. But hey, congratulations, Ms. Taylor! Mr. Smith just spent a fortune to make you happy.”

Sandra’s face nearly twisted in anger.

Walter Wilson was absolutely insufferable!
