Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 218

When he said that, the two trust fund kids finally snapped out of their daze.

Shock had completely taken over.

This was insane. Utterly insane!

That was Lucas Smith they’d just seen!

Sure, maybe his status didn’t quite match up to Jordan Smith’s, but anywhere he went, nobody dared mess with him.

Yet here he was—getting slapped and stomped on, right in front of them…

Were they hallucinating or something?

Who the hell was this guy, anyway? How could he be so fearless?

Harold Thompson was just as stunned, maybe even more so. He had a lot more to worry about.

Lucas was the one getting beat up here. If this escalated, the entire Thompson family could be dragged into it.

Hands trembling, Harold fumbled for his phone and called his dad to report what was happening.

The moment Mr. Thompson heard, he didn’t hesitate. “Right now—immediately—go delete all the security footage outside the private room. Not a single trace left behind. Remember, tonight’s time frame! If you screw this up, we’re in deep trouble!”

Harold was floored.

He never imagined his dad would handle things this way.

Was he really willing to risk offending the Smith family, just to avoid crossing this guy?

Harold couldn’t help but ask, “Dad, who is he, really? What kind of big shot are we dealing with?”

“That’s not for you to know. Just do your job and make sure our guests are taken care of. Got it?”

With that, Mr. Thompson hung up.

Harold didn’t dare waste another second.

He rushed over with his staff to help Lucas Smith up and get him out of there.

Then he personally put on his best apologetic smile and turned to Camila Davis and Dennis Williams. “I’m so sorry for the disruption, folks. I promise, we’ll take care of this right away, and you can get back to enjoying your dinner in peace. No one will bother you again tonight.”

So, she swallowed the words back down.

Dennis seemed to notice. He glanced over at her, curious.

She blinked, met his eyes, and after a second, flashed a bright smile. She raised her glass of orange juice and said, “Cheers?”

Dennis blinked in surprise, but his gaze softened.

Her smile caught him off guard—it was so sudden, yet so genuine. Her eyes were as clear as a mountain lake on a summer morning.

The light danced on her face, making her look even more striking, even more captivating.

Dennis had seen Camila in all sorts of moods—hurt, defiant, strong, gentle—but never had he seen her smile like this, so open and free.

Over the years, he’d met all kinds of people, and most of them kept their real selves locked away, hearts full of secrets.

But Camila? With her, it felt like he could see right through—all the way to the kindness and honesty at her core.

No matter what she showed on the outside, inside, she was always pure. Always real.
