Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 220

Jordan Smith definitely wasn’t planning to let Camila Davis off the hook.

After making sure Lucas Smith was okay, he left the hospital room and immediately called Camila.

At that moment, Camila had just gotten home. She was about to take a shower when she saw Jordan’s name flash on her phone. She didn’t want to answer. Not even a little.

She just switched her phone to silent. When she came out of the shower, she saw over a dozen missed calls from him.

And a message.

“Give me the name of Lillian’s therapist. I’m her father—I have the right to know who’s treating her.”

Camila stared at the message for a moment, easily guessing what was really going on.

Clearly, Jordan had found out about Lucas getting hurt. This call wasn’t about being concerned for Lillian—it was about finding dirt on Mr. Williams.

Her eyes went cold. Instead of replying, she just blocked his number. Out of sight, out of mind.

Jordan, meanwhile, was practically seething when his calls stopped going through. His face turned a shade of furious purple.

Nathan Gates had pulled a lot of strings, digging deep into this “Williams” guy. But no matter how hard he tried, all he could find was the last name: Williams.

He reported back to Jordan, “That’s all I’ve got. Williams.”

Jordan frowned, wracking his brain for any prominent Williams families in New York. But none of the city’s top families had that name.

Who the hell was this guy?

Camila laughed. “Come on, it’s not that bad. N.Z. needed me a lot at the start, but things are stable now. Walter’s got it handled, and the tech team is solid—unless something crazy happens, I’m off the hook. The lab’s new drug is almost ready, and the team’s killing it. I bet we’ll launch within two months! After that, I’ll finally get to stop micromanaging everything.”

Sarah nodded in agreement. “Good. Seriously, you need to chill. Back when you were with the Smiths, you never took a break. Now you have your own company, and you’re working harder than ever. When’s the last time you actually enjoyed yourself? You know what they say—a healthy body is the foundation of everything. You’ve earned some happiness, Camila. Don’t forget to treat yourself.”

Camila smiled, warmed by her friend’s concern. “You’re right. I promise, I’ll try.”

Sarah grinned and leaned in. “And I don’t just mean treating yourself to fancy dinners or new shoes. I’m talking about your love life. Once you’re done with Jordan, you should really think about dating again. Someone reliable this time… like, say, Mr. Williams.”

Camila, taking a sip of coffee, nearly choked. She coughed for a good minute before she could get a word out.

She shot Sarah a look. “Are you serious right now?”

Sarah’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Dead serious! Come on, the guy is drop-dead gorgeous—like, movie star handsome. That whole tall, dark, and mysterious vibe, and those shoulders? Please. Plus, he’s successful, respected in the military, clearly a big deal… I mean, what’s not to like?”
