Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 243

As for Lillian... You, and frankly the whole damn Smith clan, never treated her like family. Even the so-called moments you pretended to care were nothing but empty gestures.

So honestly, I doubt you even care now!

Jordan Smith was barely keeping his fury contained, his voice chilling as he straightened his collar, exuding that familiar air of authority. “Who told you I’d be here tonight? And just how did you get inside?”

Coming out to Silver Brook Homestead tonight was a last-minute decision.

So how did Camila Davis know? And how did she find the exact room?

Sarah Brown rolled her eyes so hard it was almost audible. Sarcastically, she shot back, “Does it really matter? Whoever tipped her off has nothing to do with your little affair! At this point, Mr. Smith, let’s not deflect. Camila’s here to talk about divorce.”

Jordan’s patience with Sarah had clearly run dry.

He shot her a look so icy it could’ve frozen the whiskey on the sideboard.

Sarah, never one to back down, glared right back, fiercer than him.

Sure, the Smith Group was a big deal in Harrisburg, but she wasn’t intimidated. The Browns’ roots were in upstate New York, but their business was global—Jordan Smith couldn’t reach that far.

“What are you staring at? Can’t you just man up and get this over with?”

Jordan’s face darkened, and when he turned to Camila, there was a cold edge to his voice. “Don’t play the victim here. You’ve been planning this divorce for ages—just so you could run off with your side piece. You think I don’t know?”

Camila barely reacted to his accusations. She was long past caring.

“You—” Jordan’s voice was dark as thunder, the tension in the room almost suffocating.

Sarah felt her bravado waver for just a second—he really was intimidating when he was angry.

But Camila stayed composed, barely flinching. She’d seen this side of him too many times before. Anger? That was nothing new.

She spoke, her voice even, “You know, up until now, your reputation’s taken a few hits, but the Smith Group’s business hasn’t really suffered. But if this goes public—if everyone starts talking—do you really think your clients will still want to work with a man who cheats, lies, and treats his family like dirt? Maybe some won’t care. But you’ll never have that untouchable reputation again.”

Jordan’s jaw clenched so tight a vein throbbed in his forehead. The look in his eyes was like a storm about to break, and for a moment, even Sarah felt a prickle of fear.

Camila just clenched her fists, unafraid, and held his gaze.
