Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 395

Mr. Morris could see how determined she looked, and honestly, it made him feel pretty proud.

Thank goodness—she might’ve gone through some rough years, but her heart’s right back where it started, her goals rock-solid. Maybe that’s just what growing up is, he thought, or maybe it’s just life.

Once that topic drifted away, they circled back to talking about Lillian.

When he heard that little Camila was learning to paint now, and even taking music lessons from the famous musician Isabella, Mr. Morris was stunned—then immediately beaming with pride.

Camila Davis pulled out her phone and started showing Mr. Morris pictures and videos of Lillian’s art lessons.

“Who knew little Camila had such a creative spark? Look at this! That’s actually a fantastic drawing...”

Mr. Morris couldn’t stop praising the pictures.

Camila Davis grinned, “If you like them, I’ll have Lillian do a portrait for you sometime. She’s always looking for someone to practice on!”

“Now that’s what I’m talking about! The one thing I’ve got plenty of is time—if Lillian ever wants to paint, just let me know, I’m always around!”

His eyes practically lit up, his whole face just bursting with excitement.

By the time the little one had unwrapped all her gifts, it was getting late.

Camila Davis glanced at the clock, then got ready to head home with Lillian.

Mr. Morris and Patrick walked them to the door, reluctant to say goodbye, and fussed over them as they left. “Don’t be a stranger! Bring Lillian over for dinner whenever you want—Lillian, if you ever crave anything, just come over to Grandpa Morris’s place, I’ve got everything!”

“Okay, Grandpa!” Little Camila replied with a sunny smile.

Camila Davis turned to Mr. Morris. “If you’ve got any free time this week, come by the lab and check out what we’re working on. I could use your advice on a few things.”

Mr. Morris happily agreed. “Sounds great, how about tomorrow?”

“Perfect,” Camila Davis nodded. “I’ll swing by and pick you up.”

And just like that, plans were set.

Once Camila Davis and Lillian’s car pulled away, Mr. Morris and Patrick finally went back inside.

On the drive home, the little one was all giggles and energy.

When they finally parked, mother and daughter waltzed into the house, arms overloaded with boxes.

Sarah Brown spotted them and raised her eyebrows. “Whoa, did you guys buy out the whole mall? Why so many boxes?”

“Again?” Camila Davis looked puzzled.

She read it, and suddenly her whole expression changed, a sly grin creeping onto her face.

Camila Davis saw the look and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s with that face?”

Sarah Brown just laughed. “I know who sent you the shoes.”

“Huh?”

Sarah Brown handed her the card. “Read it for yourself.”

Camila Davis took it, and at the bottom of the card, she saw the name written: ‘Williams.’

She blinked, stunned.

Mr. Williams???

Sarah Brown nudged her, teasing, “Oh, come on! Still claiming there’s nothing between you two? The man’s buying you shoes now.”

She shook her head, grinning. “Should’ve guessed—it could only be him, going all out like this.”

Camila Davis didn’t know what to say. Her heart might’ve skipped a beat.
