Sandra Taylor’s plan had worked out just as she’d hoped, and she was practically beaming with excitement. “Thank you, Mr. Mitchell! I’m really looking forward to working together.”
After wrapping up the meeting, Sandra couldn’t wait to share the good news with Jordan Smith.
When Jordan heard that Raymond Mitchell was also a med school grad, he felt even more optimistic about his upcoming treatment.

Meanwhile, at Camila Davis’ research lab, things were moving fast.
The first batch of medication from their partnership with the military was reaching a critical stage. Thanks to the intel from the special ops team—and some brilliant suggestions from her mentor—Camila was working at triple her usual speed.
For the next few days, she threw herself into the project, barely coming up for air.
Before she knew it, Friday had arrived.
That afternoon, Walter Wilson showed up at her office, bringing news that wasn’t exactly cheerful.
“So, there’s this pharmaceutical company, The Smith Group,” Walter began, “and they’ve released a new miracle drug based on a formula suspiciously similar to ours. It’s not as effective as ours, but it’s a lot cheaper. It’s starting to eat into our business.”
Camila nodded, then glanced at Walter. “You handle this kind of corporate drama all the time, don’t you? Why come to me now?”
Walter’s frown deepened. “Because the person running The Smith Group isn’t just anybody. I called in the legal team, but when we dug deeper, we found out the boss is Raymond Mitchell. He’s apparently a fellow med school alum. I’m not sure how connected he is, so I wanted to run it by you first.”
If Mitchell was an acquaintance of Mr. Morris, their legendary mentor, they’d have to tread carefully.
Camila was surprised; she’d never heard of Raymond Mitchell before. She quickly skimmed the background dossier Walter handed her.
The guy was no amateur—he’d made some clever tweaks to the formula, and his product actually worked.
Camila was about to say Mitchell wasn’t from their med school, but considering his age, she hesitated. “I’ll look into it and let you know,” she promised.
“Alright,” Walter said.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, he still flaunted his connection to the school.
“Unbelievable!” Camila fumed.
But Patrick wasn’t finished. “The guy’s got a real nerve. He always claimed he was just as gifted as Mr. Morris, and tried to one-up him at every turn. Truth be told, back in the day, Mr. Morris was engaged to the school’s star student. But Mitchell tricked her away from him. Then he abandoned her. She was so devastated, she couldn’t face the shame and… well, she took her own life.”
Patrick’s voice was heavy with old sorrow.
Camila was stunned. She’d never heard any of this before. Was this why Mr. Morris had never married? Suddenly, her mind went back to the time when she’d wanted to marry Jordan Smith, and Mr. Morris had been so against it. Was he just trying to protect her?
She didn’t know what to say. Mr. Morris sat in silence, lost in thought.
After a long moment, he finally spoke. “I did care about her, but more than anything, I felt responsible. I was heartbroken, sure, but I moved on. I just regret that she was so talented—if she’d lived, she might have surpassed me. As for Raymond Mitchell, I despise him not just because he’s a thief. He’s greedy for fame and money. He once gave dangerously strong meds to patients just to prove how ‘miraculous’ his cures were. The sad part? People actually believed him and called him a miracle worker. He conned a fortune out of them.”
Camila listened, a mix of anger and sadness knotting in her chest. She understood now why Mr. Morris had reacted so strongly—Raymond Mitchell wasn’t just a fraud, he was a heartless one.
