Camila Davis couldn’t help but ask, noticing Sarah’s sly, fox-like grin, “Alright, spill it. What’s this big show you’re talking about?”

Sarah just winked, keeping her cards close to her chest. “You’ll see soon enough, trust me.”

If the Smith family had the nerve to go after Lillian—and then invite Camila to their engagement party just to rub it in—well, Sarah figured it was only fair to give them a taste of their own medicine. If they wanted drama, she’d give them a scandal they wouldn’t forget.

Camila glanced at her, a bit worried. “Sarah, what exactly are you up to? Don’t do anything too crazy, okay? You know the Smiths—they’re the kind of people who’ll make your life hell if you cross them.”

She knew that from experience. Even if the Smiths couldn’t actually hurt you, nobody could make you feel more miserable just for fun.

“And if things get out of hand,” Camila added quietly, “they’ll come after you for sure. I don’t want you getting dragged into this because of me.”

Sarah just put her hands on her hips, flashing a confident smile. “Please, I’m about to move to Cabinda. What are they gonna do, chase me overseas?”

Camila and Walter Wilson exchanged a look. They both got the feeling Sarah was about to do something big—and probably a little outrageous.

Before Camila could press for details, Sarah suddenly stiffened, eyes fixed on the elevator. She whipped out her phone, snapping a photo.

Camila followed her gaze and caught sight of a vaguely familiar face—a chiseled, strikingly handsome man with strong European features. She was sure she’d seen him somewhere before.

He stepped out of the elevator, looking smug, fixing his tie in the mirrored wall. Camila couldn’t help but notice a suspicious red mark on his neck.

“Who’s that guy?” she whispered, tugging Sarah’s sleeve.

Sarah’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “That? That’s Sandra Taylor’s ex-husband.”

“What?!” Camila and Walter both gaped at her in shock.

“How do you know that?” Walter blurted out.

Sarah was tempted to tell the truth, but remembering what she had planned for Camila’s sake, she just shrugged. “Let’s just say I found out by accident.”

She lowered her voice. “He used to be a model, you know. Couple years back, he was all over the entertainment magazines—voted Sexiest Man Alive and everything. But then, last year, his wife filed a domestic abuse complaint. That kind of thing? It’s career suicide over here. He lost his contracts, his gigs, everything. Completely blacklisted.”

Sarah shook her head. “Once you’re out of the spotlight, you’re out for good. I just didn’t expect to see him here, of all places.”

Walter frowned. “But today’s Jordan Smith’s engagement party. Why would Sandra Taylor’s ex show up? Surely he wasn’t invited?”
