Sarah Brown tried to stifle a laugh, teasing, “Come on, what’s with that act? You think I don’t know what’s running through your head?”
But she didn’t push it too far. Turning to Dennis Williams, she greeted him with a grin. “Mr. Williams! It’s been a while—you’ve gotten even more handsome since last time.”
Dennis smiled politely, dipping his head in greeting. “Ms. Brown, you’re as charming as ever.”
Sarah let out a dramatic sigh. “Oh, is that so? Well, what about our Camila here? Hasn’t she gotten even prettier since you two last met?”
Called out, Dennis looked straight at Camila Davis, making it clear he was checking her out.
They locked eyes for a moment before Camila had to look away, her cheeks heating up. There was something deeper in his gaze than before—something she couldn’t quite face for long without feeling like she might lose herself in it.
Dennis must’ve noticed her embarrassment, but he was a gentleman about it and didn’t tease her in front of everyone.
He turned back to Sarah. “Has she ever looked anything but beautiful?”
Sarah’s eyes lit up, and she let out a playful groan. “Oh, come on! Am I doomed to third-wheel these lovebirds forever? If I’d known, I wouldn’t have invited you guys to Boston!”
Susan just grinned as she helped collect their bags, clearly entertained.
Camila’s ears turned bright red. She reached over to cover Sarah’s mouth. “Shut up, will you?”
Dennis, watching their banter, remained calm and collected. “I’ve made dinner reservations. Let’s grab something to eat.”
“Perfect!” Sarah piped up.
Camila shot Sarah a warning look but didn’t push further—she wasn’t about to start a catfight in front of Dennis. Sarah just grinned and tagged along behind them.
They had barely touched the bland airplane food, so everyone was starving.
Sarah was still in the mood to joke. “First meal in Boston, and Mr. Williams is treating us? After that, I’ll make myself scarce and leave you two to it!”
Camila rolled her eyes. Sarah had barely landed and was already back to her old self—no trace of the teary goodbyes from earlier.
