Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 639

After nearly an hour’s drive, the car finally pulled up in front of a stunning estate.

Camila Davis couldn’t help but feel a little surprised.

The place stood alone, far from the city, sprawling across acres of rolling green. The mansion itself was grand, almost regal, with a hint of old-world charm woven into its luxurious design.

As the car glided up the winding driveway, Camila noticed the tall cherry blossom trees and maples dotting the way, their branches arching overhead in graceful canopies.

In the center of the front yard stood a majestic oak tree, its leaves lush and full.

Camila also realized that every so often along the drive, there were security posts, each one manned. This was clearly private property—exclusive, protected, and very much off-limits to the outside world.

Normally, she would have wondered who could possibly live somewhere like this. But remembering this was Dennis Williams’ home, it made perfect sense.

This was the first time since arriving in Cabinda that Camila had set foot on Dennis’ private turf. She couldn’t help but be a little curious, her eyes drinking in every detail.

She glanced at the sign by the gate: “Eagle’s Peak Estate.”

If she remembered correctly, the first two words were actually his mother’s name—or at least, derived from it.

Noticing her gaze, Dennis spoke up, his voice soft. “This place was actually designed by my mother when she was alive.”

He glanced at her, smiling gently. “She was incredibly creative—not just with music and art, but she had a real passion for architecture. In college, she double-majored in architectural design and even went on to get her PhD.”

Camila listened, genuinely interested. Dennis rarely spoke about his mother; in fact, she couldn’t remember him ever mentioning her before.

“She loved cherry blossoms and maples, which is why you see them along the drive,” Dennis continued. “But her favorite was always the oak. Every fall, she’d collect the brightest leaves and keep them as little treasures.”

Camila’s surprise must have shown on her face, because Dennis chuckled, shifting Lillian to one arm and reaching out to take Camila’s hand.

“We’re together now,” he said gently. “You can know everything about me—I want you to.”

Camila nodded, warmth flooding her chest. She liked this feeling—a door opening, secrets shared, trust building between them.
