Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 673

Camila Davis’s eyes flickered, caught off guard by Dennis’s words.

Wasn’t that supposed to be her line?

She was the lucky one, being with him.

But Camila didn’t say anything. Instead, she let her actions speak for her. She closed her eyes and pressed a gentle, loving kiss to his lips.

Dennis’s hand tightened around her waist, his gaze suddenly dark and intense, like a storm brewing just beneath the surface. He was tempted to kiss her deeper, to pull her closer—

But then he felt it: a pair of little eyes watching them.

With a jolt, Dennis remembered their daughter was right there. He quickly let go of Camila and turned around—only to see their little girl, Lillian, blinking up at them with innocent curiosity.

Camila’s face flushed red. She almost jumped away in embarrassment, pushing Dennis aside and desperately trying to put some space between them.

Lillian, as if sensing her mom’s panic, immediately spun around, her chubby little hands covering her eyes. In her sweetest, most dramatic voice, she announced, “Oh no, why did everything just go dark? Layla, do you think I got something in my eye?”

Across the room, Susan bit back a laugh and hurried over, playing along. “Oh, maybe you did! Come on, let’s go wash up and see if we can fix it.”

Lillian grinned, nodding eagerly. “Okay!” she chirped, then trotted up the stairs with Susan.

Camila watched her daughter’s retreating figure and couldn’t help but laugh. “Where did she learn that?”

She’s getting cheekier by the day!

Audrey Williams was finally coming back to the States. For the past few days, Dennis’s aunt—Charlotte Kelly—had been planning Audrey’s welcome-home dinner.

This time, the Williams Family wanted to keep things low-key. The guest list was tight, limited to old family friends and close associates. The ballroom was decorated with understated elegance, but every detail reflected how much they valued Audrey.

Even the elder Mr. Williams showed up early to inspect the arrangements—after all, Audrey was his only granddaughter.

Cynthia Lee wasn’t about to miss her chance to shine. Eager to prove herself the perfect daughter-in-law, she’d come early to help set up. When she spotted Mr. Williams, she rushed over with a sweet smile, playing the part of the doting, considerate relative.

“Charlotte really knows her daughter best, doesn’t she?” Cynthia said, linking arms with Mr. Williams. “Everything here is just how Audrey likes it.”

Charlotte Kelly, dressed in a classic Southern style with a touch of literary grace, still radiated charm and sophistication even in her forties. Every inch the refined Southern lady, Charlotte made sure her daughter’s homecoming would be perfect.
