Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 683

What are they doing here?

Camila Davis froze in place, caught completely off guard.

Dennis Williams and Aaron looked just as surprised to see her.

Dennis arched an eyebrow and offered Camila a faint, knowing smile.

Walter Wilson, catching sight of the group, frowned, his eyes darkening with concern.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Kelly and her husband didn’t notice the strange tension in the air; all of their attention was on Lillian.

They hurried towards the woman sprawled on the couch. “Audrey, honey, are you alright? Where does it hurt? Should we take you to the hospital? Don’t scare your mother like that…”

Douglas Williams hovered beside his wife, worry etched into every line of his face. “Sweetheart, are you exhausted? If I’d known, we would’ve postponed this whole welcome dinner.”

Both parents were already blaming themselves.

Their daughter had just come home, and yet here they were dragging her out to a dinner party.

Seeing how anxious they were, Audrey Williams quickly tried to reassure them. “Dad, Mom, I’m fine. It’s my fault—I forgot to take my medication tonight, so I started feeling unwell for a bit. But I’m alright now, really.”

“Are you sure?” her parents pressed, still clearly uneasy.

No one knew Audrey’s health better than they did.

Charlotte Kelly said, “Jordan Smith had a doctor on standby all night, just in case. If you weren’t feeling well, why didn’t you say something?”

Nervousness and self-consciousness welled up inside her, along with a twinge of dread.

Not long ago, rumors about her and Dennis had spread like wildfire through Cabinda’s upper circles. The entire social scene had been whispering behind her back, saying she wasn’t good enough. Even though she hadn’t met them yet, she knew Dennis’s family was strongly opposed to their relationship.

She’d assumed she wouldn’t have to face them so soon.

But now, here they were, thrown together by pure chance…

Camila had no idea how they’d react. The possibility of icy stares or cold shoulders made her tense up, her nerves strung tight as a wire. Still, she forced herself to stand tall and meet the couple’s gaze.

Charlotte and Douglas Kelly regarded Camila quietly, an unreadable expression fleeting across their faces, but they didn’t say anything right away.

Audrey, oblivious to the awkwardness, beamed at her parents. “Mom, I almost passed out just now. It was Mr. Wilson who brought me here and called the doctor to help me.”
