Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 692

His entrance, as expected, drew every eye in the room; the entire ballroom seemed to fall into a hush.

Audrey Williams immediately spotted Dennis as he arrived and waved him over with a bright smile.

Standing beside her were Cynthia Lee and Larry Adams.

In the past, Cynthia Lee—just like the rest of their social circle—had never bothered to hide her disdain for Larry. But now, with Dennis Williams backing him, Larry was finally making a name for himself in the business world and had started to establish a solid position within the Adams family.

More than that, Dennis seemed to genuinely treat Larry like a brother, taking him under his wing and looking out for him.

Cynthia figured she hadn’t wised up too late; after realizing all this, she’d made several attempts tonight to start up a conversation with Larry.

What she hadn’t expected was Larry’s complete indifference. Throughout the evening, he barely acknowledged her, making her feel increasingly frustrated and left out.

And then there was Audrey Williams.

Back when they’d returned from the airport earlier, Audrey had been warm and friendly, chatting away as usual. But after stepping away for a bit, she came back somehow changed—less enthusiastic, more reserved. Now, she seemed intent on cozying up to Larry, whispering secrets he’d listen to with a grin.

Cynthia tried to join in but found herself thoroughly sidelined.

She genuinely couldn’t understand it—what was it about this so-called “black sheep” of the Adams family that had both Williams siblings so taken with him?

But Larry Adams, for his part, couldn’t have cared less about Cynthia’s mood.

At the moment, he was nudging Audrey with a mischievous smile. “Come on, send me a couple of those photos you took. You can’t be the only one making pocket money off Dennis—let’s split the spoils!”

Audrey grinned, ever generous, and pulled out her phone. “Sure, I’ll send you a couple! I took some great shots, you know. You’ll be impressed.”

She couldn’t resist boasting about her photography skills.

When Larry received the photos, he looked thoroughly pleased.

Just as their little conspiracy wrapped up, Dennis Williams’ tall figure appeared nearby. Audrey promptly called him over.

Even in a room full of wealthy heirs, Dennis stood out—unruffled, poised, and strikingly handsome, as if he belonged to another world entirely.

He strolled up to them, gave the pair an inquisitive look, and asked, “What’s up?”

“We do have something! Of course we do!” Larry and Audrey exchanged conspiratorial grins, each taking one of Dennis’s arms and steering him to the side.

They pulled out their phones and said, “Dennis, want to buy some photos?”

Audrey chimed in, nodding earnestly, “Pay whatever you think is fair. We’re not going to gouge you—it’s more about seeing how much you love Camila.”

Audrey was about to respond when Larry’s voice suddenly cut in, redirecting everyone’s attention. “Sarah Brown? You’re here too? I didn’t see you earlier!”

His greeting was loud enough for several people to hear.

Audrey looked over curiously and saw a striking young woman making her way over, arm-in-arm with another girl whose gentle elegance contrasted her friend’s vibrant beauty.

It was Sarah Brown and Aurora Robinson.

Spotting familiar faces, Sarah flashed a bright smile. “Mr. Williams invited me! I was with Aurora just now.”

Then she turned to Dennis, her eyes full of gratitude. “Thanks for paving the way for me, Mr. Williams—and for the introductions tonight!”

Tonight, the Williams family had gathered the very top tier of Cabinda’s elite. For most, Dennis wouldn’t have bothered.

But Sarah was Camila Davis’s best friend, and she’d always been there for Camila. For that alone, Dennis treated her with unusual warmth, nodding and replying, “Of course.”

Those simple words nearly made Cynthia lose her composure.

She knew all too well who was standing in front of her—Camila’s best friend, Sarah Brown, the famous Ms. Taylor of the Brown Group!

Dennis could afford to be so polite and friendly with her, but when it came to Cynthia, all he ever showed was cold indifference.
