What would Dennis Williams do?
Camila Davis had no idea that those two had been secretly communicating behind her back.
But what she did know was that the new research center had just received a substantial investment.
When she found out the exact amount, Camila was over the moon.
“Whoever this guardian angel is, bless them! With this money, we won’t have to keep tiptoeing around and pinching pennies in our research anymore!”
All those projects she’d wanted to try, she could finally pursue without holding back.
She didn’t need to second-guess herself any longer.
Hearing the excitement in her voice, Walter Wilson couldn’t help but smile quietly.
As long as she was happy, that was enough.
It made all the effort that person put in for her worthwhile—and made his own letting go feel meaningful too.
Camila’s good mood from the investment lasted the whole day.
That evening, when she went out for dinner with Dennis Williams, she made a point of telling him the good news.
She couldn’t stop praising, “I don’t know who this investor is, but they have incredible foresight! We’d mapped out three or four projects, and I’d been agonizing over which one to start first. Now, with this funding, I don’t have to worry!”
Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her eyes sparkled with confidence, as if starlight had fallen into a lake, sending ripples of light across the water.
Dennis watched her, his eyes full of warmth and affection, a gentle smile playing at his lips.
To see her smile like this—every penny was worth it.
Before she knew it, the research center’s projects were moving forward, and the recognition ceremony with the Sanders family hadn’t been delayed either.
Camila had already let her parents and Eric Morris know about it.
Once both families agreed on a date, Camila brought Melissa George, Jerry Davis, Eric Morris, and Lillian with her to the Sanders estate.
Melissa George and her husband had no objections at all. They knew the Sanders family’s standing in Cabinda, and knowing their precious daughter would have more people looking out for her brought them peace of mind.
The Sanders family had been waiting for them since morning.
As soon as Camila’s group arrived, they were welcomed inside with open arms.
Then came the formal part: the tea ceremony.
The Sanders family was fully prepared.
With everyone watching expectantly, Camila offered tea with both hands, smiling as she addressed everyone by their new titles. “Godfather, Sarah, big brother, Camila!”
“Wonderful, wonderful. Now I finally have a daughter too,” Dahlia Sutton beamed with joy.
Camila might not be her biological child, but there was a natural fondness that made her impossible not to love. “I’ve got a little gift for you—see if you like it.”
She took out a cherished bracelet and slipped it onto Camila’s wrist.
Damaris laughed and waved Lillian over. “Come here, Aunt Charlotte has a gift for you.”
The little one scampered over on her short legs.
Damaris fastened a delicate pendant around her neck, then gently stroked her hair. “This is for you, Lillian. May you always be safe and healthy, and grow up happy and bright!”
“Wow, it’s so pretty! Thank you, Aunt Charlotte, I love it!” Lillian leaned in and gave Damaris a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Lillian, come here, Grandpa and Grandma have a present for you too!” Hamlin Sanders called out.
The couple presented her with a pair of beautiful bracelets, obviously custom-made just for her.
Camila, having just received an expensive bracelet herself, felt a bit overwhelmed by all the gifts.
But Dahlia only laughed. “We’ve gained a daughter, and as a bonus, we get the most adorable little granddaughter. I’m more than satisfied with this new family!”
Everyone chuckled at that.
After lunch, Camila and her family said their goodbyes.
On the way back, Eric Morris arranged for Melissa and Jerry George and Lillian to be dropped off first.
“Camila, come with me. I’ve got a few things to take care of.”
“Alright, you two go ahead,” Jerry Davis replied, knowing they had important business to attend to. He left with his wife and granddaughter.
Camila didn’t even ask where he was taking her—she just followed along without fuss.
