Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 793

Cynthia Lee took a sip of red wine, a cold smirk curling on her lips. “Relax. We’re still here, aren’t we? If that idiot can’t get the job done, we’ll just step in and give her a little… encouragement. As long as we ruin whatever Dennis and that woman have going on, that’s all that matters.”

She simply couldn’t stand the sight of Camila Davis next to the man she liked. If they didn’t act soon, Mr. Williams might just fall for that woman’s tricks.

Anxious and exhilarated, Cynthia’s heart raced.

Beside her, Natalie Morris wore a look of gleeful mischief. She grinned. “Success is guaranteed! After all, we’ve called in a friend to liven things up, haven’t we?”

As she spoke, Natalie’s gaze drifted across the room, landing on a tall, striking figure who had appeared at some point. He wore a slate-gray tuxedo that spoke of understated luxury. Even seated in a wheelchair, his solitary, aloof presence drew every eye.

There was no mistaking him—Jordan Smith.

“And there’s one more guest of honor tonight,” Natalie added, unable to hide her anticipation. “He’s not here yet, but he should be on his way…”

She glanced at her watch, surprised to see it was already past eight. “Time really does fly…”

Her eyes flicked to Cynthia. “Are we sure Mr. Williams and Camila Davis will actually show? Everyone who came for tonight’s little drama is already here. Would be a shame for the stars of the show to miss their own entrance.”

If they failed to make Camila Davis look bad, they’d end up making fools of themselves.

Cynthia’s eyes gleamed with certainty. “They’ll come. I already sounded Audrey out—she said they’re on their way.”

Downstairs, right at that moment—

Dennis Williams and Camila Davis arrived fashionably late. The sleek black Rolls-Royce had barely come to a stop when a valet hurried over to open the door.

Dennis stepped out first, his tailored suit perfectly framing broad shoulders and a lean, athletic build. There was something about his composed, almost austere demeanor that made it impossible to think anything improper; he was someone you respected instinctively.

But instead of heading straight in, Dennis turned and offered his hand toward the backseat. The silver bracelet on his wrist slipped down, accentuating his long, pale fingers.

Camila stared for a moment, then smiled and placed her hand in his.

“Let’s go,” he said.

With him by her side, she didn’t feel like she was entering enemy territory alone.

She stepped out after him. The hotel entrance bustled with people, but nearly every pair of eyes turned their way.

Tonight, Camila wore the gown Dennis had chosen for her—an elegant mermaid dress adorned with crystal patterns that shimmered as she moved, giving the illusion of a siren walking on land. Her jet-black waves fell like seaweed across her shoulders, framing a face already striking but now radiant with confidence and poise.

Dennis took a moment, then decided. “You and Camila go up first. I’ll meet my grandfather and join you after. We’ll deal with the rest then.”

Audrey nodded, relieved. “Alright!”

Honestly, she’d been dreading dealing with Grandpa herself. Letting Dennis handle it was a blessing.

She quickly slipped her arm through Camila’s. Her smile returned as she said, “Come on, Camila, let’s go. I’ll take you up.”

“Okay,” Camila agreed easily, but glanced back at Dennis.

He met her eyes with a reassuring look. “Wait for me.”

She nodded. She trusted him to handle things.

Taking a deep breath, Camila steadied herself and followed Audrey into the elevator.

It wasn’t long before they reached the ballroom.

Camila had assumed their arrival would go mostly unnoticed—after all, the party was already in full swing and most of the guests had arrived. Surely no one would pay much attention as they slipped in.
