Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 826

Dennis was silent for a few seconds, a knowing look dawning in his eyes as if he’d figured it out. The people who worked for him, all trained by Aaron, were exceptionally perceptive. They had probably overheard the conversation about having a child and taken the initiative.

His dark eyes held a deep, hidden glint, and his voice took on a seductive quality as he leaned in and murmured in her ear, “It’s getting late. Mr. and Mrs. Davis are probably asleep by now, right? I doubt they’re waiting up for a heart-to-heart.”

His magnetic voice was intoxicating, especially at such close range. Camila felt a tingling sensation spread from her ear down her spine. Shaking her head to clear it, she checked the time.

“Wow, I can’t believe it’s so late,” she said, surprised. It was already past ten o’clock. “My parents usually have a set bedtime, but after everything that happened tonight, I’m sure they have a lot they want to talk to me about. They’re probably waiting up.”

But Dennis countered smoothly, “The way your parents looked at me when they left tonight… their attitude seemed to have changed. I think they’ve accepted our relationship, don’t you?”

Camila thought about it for a moment and nodded. “Yes, I think you’re right.”

“Then it won’t hurt to talk to them tomorrow,” Dennis said, his logic impeccable. “Everyone’s tired tonight. We should all get some rest. What do you think?”

Camila gazed out the window at the familiar scenery passing by. It didn’t take her long to decide. It would take at least an hour to get back to her parents’ house from Eagle’s Peak Estate. By the time she got home, it would be even later. It made more sense to stay the night here, let her parents get some rest, and talk to them in the morning.

She nodded readily. “Okay, I’ll let them know.”

“Good,” Dennis acknowledged, watching as she took out her phone and sent her parents a quick message telling them to go to bed.

Dennis hummed in agreement, his voice a low, deep rumble. His warm palm rested on her waist, gently kneading the tense muscle. “It’s alright. Just relax.”

Before she could process what he meant, she heard a soft, tearing sound.

The zipper on her back gave way with a gentle tug.

Instantly, her body was freed from a powerful constraint, and a wave of liberating comfort washed over her. She froze, about to look down, when a hand tilted her chin up.

A searing kiss descended upon her.
