Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 847

Dennis watched them with cold indifference, saying nothing.

It was Aaron who spoke, his tone one of feigned helplessness. “Hey, you can eat whatever you want, but you can’t just say whatever you want. We were standing right here, a good distance away from you. If we’d done something, don’t you think you would have seen it? We’re all respectable people here. Without any proof, we could sue you for slander.”

A bodyguard chimed in. “Exactly. With a mouth that foul, maybe it felt so bad about itself that it just split open on its own.”

“You—you’re talking nonsense!” Mason sputtered, livid. It didn’t take a genius to know they were behind this.

Aaron replied nonchalantly, “How is it nonsense? Did you see something with your own eyes, Mr. Smith? Do you have proof? If you do, please present it, and we can call the police. Otherwise, stop making baseless accusations.”

Mason’s face was ashen. He hadn’t seen a thing. It had all happened in a flash. Besides, to inflict such a wound would require a weapon, but the men had been too far away. They hadn't seen anything.

Jordan realized this as well. Their confidence meant they had used some undetectable method. Given Dennis Williams’s background, it wasn’t surprising that he had people with such skills at his disposal.

Meanwhile, Barbara was still wailing. “Quick… get me to a doctor! A doctor!”

Her cries were agonizing, and the sight of the blood streaming down her face was horrifying. Jordan and Mason couldn’t ignore it. Gritting their teeth, they abandoned the confrontation to get Barbara medical help.

As they left, Jordan looked back at Camila, his eyes filled with a stubborn resolve. “Camila, I won’t give up!”

Camila’s face was a mask of ice. She didn’t even bother to spare him a glance.

Soon, the hallway was quiet again. Dennis led Camila and Sarah into the hospital room.

The moment the door closed, Sarah couldn’t hold back any longer. “What just happened out there? How did Barbara’s mouth just start bleeding like that?” She didn’t believe for a second it was spontaneous.

Camila was just as puzzled. The sight of Barbara covered in blood had startled her. But Dennis had been standing right beside her, and while Aaron and the bodyguards were closer to the Smiths, she hadn’t seen them make any unusual moves. “Who did it?”

Aaron sheepishly raised his hand. “That would be me.”

Sarah’s face lit up. “Well, in that case, I won’t be polite!” She happily took the gadget. They were practically family now.

After stowing it away safely, she turned back to the topic of Barbara’s downfall. “That was the first time I’ve ever seen that hypocrite scream in agony. She deserved it. It was so satisfying to watch! Mr. and Mrs. Davis, you don’t need to be angry anymore. Mr. Williams got some serious revenge for Camila!”

Jerry and Melissa hadn’t known exactly what had happened outside, but they had certainly heard Barbara’s screams. Listening to Sarah’s gleeful retelling of the event, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of vindication.

Still, a flicker of concern remained. They looked at Dennis. “This won’t cause you any trouble, will it?” They knew all too well how relentless the Smiths could be.

Dennis, however, was unconcerned. “Not at all,” he reassured them. “It’s just the Smith family. They can’t cause any waves here in Cabinda. You have nothing to worry about.”

Seeing the confidence in his eyes, the elderly couple finally relaxed.
