Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 894

The thought of his great-granddaughter being snatched away just as he was about to welcome her into the family was infuriating. The Smith family was stirring up trouble again, and he couldn't tolerate it. His grandfather’s reaction confirmed Audrey’s hunch—the old man was genuinely agitated.

Cynthia, however, was oblivious to the nuances. All she saw was the elder Mr. Williams’s anger, and she felt a flicker of triumph. As expected, whenever Dennis and Camila were involved, the old man couldn't stay calm. The angrier he was about Camila, the happier she became. This was her winning hand.

Striking while the iron was hot, Cynthia quickly added, “Grandpa Williams, please don’t be angry. Camila and her ex-husband have always been entangled. A man of Dennis’s caliber being with her was a huge compromise to begin with. Now that the Smith family is involved, why don’t we just let things take their course and let them be together? That way, Dennis can finally be free of this mess, right?”

“Absolutely not!” The elder Mr. Williams slammed his silverware on the table. “That would be letting them off way too easily!” he roared. The Smiths had discarded the child like trash when she was sick, and now that she was well, they wanted to snatch her back. What about his grandson’s hard work? He would never allow anyone to steal the fruits of his grandson’s labor! And he wouldn't let anyone take his great-granddaughter!

He shot an irritated look at Audrey. “Jordan is usually so sharp. Why is he being so slow now? Doesn't he know what's happening? Is he just going to stand by and watch?”

Audrey was secretly ecstatic but maintained a concerned expression. “Well, what can he do?” she said, adding more fuel to the fire. “It’s partly because you were so against it before… He’s caught between a rock and a hard place. It’s a difficult situation to interfere in, and now this happens. Jordan’s probably hiding somewhere, nursing a broken heart.”

She shot a glance at Cynthia, who was also beaming with delight while pretending to comfort him. “Grandpa Williams,” Cynthia said, “Camila isn’t even from Cabinda. She only has a foothold here because of Dennis. If they break up, she’s nothing. We can just make her leave…”

Without Dennis Williams to protect her, Cynthia thought, the woman would be hers to crush. Her words, however, finally drew the elder Mr. Williams’s full attention.
