Hearing his granddaughter's final plea, the elder Mr. Williams was completely cornered. "Alright, alright, I'll go! Is that what you want to hear?" If he didn't relent, it would seem like he was the one sabotaging his grandson's happiness.
Audrey beamed. "I knew you were the best, Grandpa! Where else could I find a grandfather as kind and understanding as you?" She showered him with compliments until he was practically floating.
As the music started up again, Audrey discreetly pulled out her phone and sent a message to her cousin.
Dennis glanced at the text, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. It seemed all that doting on Lillian had paid off.
Meanwhile, Jordan Smith was also watching Lillian's performance, but his experience was entirely different. To say he was the most shocked person in the audience tonight would be an understatement.
Before this, he'd assumed Lillian's rehearsals were just a child's pastime. She was, after all, just a little girl who had suffered from severe autism. He thought it was already a great achievement for her to have found some success in painting. The idea that she could excel in another field, let alone perform on stage with a legend like Isabella, had seemed impossible. He had assumed the Williams family had pulled some strings to make it happen.
But seeing it with his own eyes, he finally understood how wrong he had been. He knew so little about his own daughter.
Sitting next to Jordan were two renowned music masters. He overheard one say to the other, "Ms. Hill's young disciple is truly a prodigy. No wonder she came out of retirement just to hold a concert for her."
"A talent like that is a once-in-a-lifetime find," the other agreed.
"Indeed. And she's so adorable! Isabella really kept her hidden. She wouldn't even show the little one's face in the videos, probably afraid someone would steal her away!"
"Haha, if I had such a brilliant apprentice, I'd want to hide her too!"
"Well, at the celebration banquet later, I'm definitely going to give that little one a hug. I also want to see who could produce such a beautiful child. I've never seen such a stunning little girl!"
"You old coot, don't you go scaring the little darling."
"Of course not! I'd spoil her rotten! At most, I'll just pinch her chubby little cheeks. I bet they're so soft!"
